OK basically if you have anything against weed hash or any other substances that can be taken through a bong - i really dont care go waste your time in an anti-drug thread.
I've recently found around 2 meters of bamboo although unfortunately its too thin near the end so i basically am aiming at making something at just over 1meters... I wanted to know if anyone has any experience carving bamboo (not necessarilly for drug purposes) or just making bongs in general... I dont know what type of uhh "descente" (is the french word) - the pole where u stick the bowl on, that the smoke goes through which then enters the bong through the water and into ur lungs... yeah that thing i was hoping to do that in bamboo as well but i really dont have any tools to carve out the "knots" which are solid.... any1 have any easy ways to do this?

First of all, I grow the giant bamboo in my yard and haven't ever thought about making a bong out of it -- that's a great idea. I've made bongs out of clay and lots of other materials, here's my take:
As for the knots, I don't know why you'd ever want to get rid of them. They give the bamboo it's natural look and feel. Just sand them down a bit to get rid of any sharp edges and other than that leave them be. They are good to put your hands under for support, especially if you're looking to make a bong a meter long.
I believe the English word for what you're looking for is the "Downstem." I wouldn't recommend making that part out of bamboo simply because bamboo is a very stringy material and does not carve well, especially precision carving. I'd just recommend using prefabricated glass parts for the downstem and bowl. If you're looking to really go all out with the wood then I'd say find a piece of wood that is easier to carve than bamboo.
Seriously, I think I'm going to do this myself so send me a message if you ever get around to finishing yours and I'll try to send you mine when I finish as well.

Where I am it's just called the stem.
I would make it out of a hollow pen and tin foil. That is, if you're a good tin foil craftsman. It probably won't be extremely air-tight unless you use glue or something.

just look at a bong then make it look like it. I suggest that you use glass tubing for the stem and bowl for obvious reasons. and if you are a true badass you will make a glass bong but build bamboo around it. and post pictures of it.

i wouldnt suggest bamboo bongs unless you just want it for novelty.
they are sick for a few months but then rot.
i chilled on a small thai island for a few days smoking opium from a bamboo bong. when i came back i made one...but the bottom rotted out and stank after a while even when i changed the water frequently and didnt let it sit soaking over night.

I honestly recommend you just smoke weed/hash through a quality hookah instead of this.
A certain amount of my friends are pretty serious stoners and they've come to pretty much the same conclusion. Some use a tobacco pipe for portability, but a 1-meter thick bamboo bong is neither portable nor comfortable.

I dont know but I remember the water is suppose to be pure black. My mom used to put that stuff on my face because i had some fungus growing on my face. that stuff is really good against fungus
