Also I think this Robert guy is way overrated. So except for all the cliches and crappy games (somehow I find it hard to take console gamers and games seriously lulz) It's a pretty awesome show. P.S. Waiting for Geoff to grammatically and physically bitchslap one of the other contestants. Don't let us down >: ( | ||

The goal of this show is to hype WCG and introduce it to the masses. Guitar hero has a big fan following and is part of the WCG games list, so it fits exactly the criteria of what the producers are after. Also the contestants were chosen because they are interesting characters rather than being the very best gamers in the world. Its also impossible to award someone a best overall gamer title. There is just far too much variation between games and no-where near enough time for experience to be overtaken by skill. Trying to award a best overall gamer title is like trying to award a best overall olympian. That being said, I enjoyed the first episode and will watch until iNcontrol leaves (or wins). Hopefully he gets more airtime as the group diminishes in number. | ||

Of course, in the end every show on TV is about making money or reaching certain marketing goals (which leads to making money). But to engage in to the discussion of hyping WCG and introducing it to the masses, I think this show fails pretty bad... Even though we've only just seen the first episode, there hardly seems to be any focus on the characters themselves or the way they are experience the event. It all looks very cheesy and set up. Even those MTV shows are doing a better job on that part ;P Like you said yourself, the whole idea to award a best overall gamer title is silly.. but really, this is the proposition and promise they made to their viewers. This is what the show is aiming for and what is expected by the viewers. Looking at the way this is being handled makes the show look even more cheesy and fake'ish imo. If you want to introduce e-Sports to the masses in a serious way, this is not the way to do it. Just read the opinions of the people on TL.net... the only reason people are watching this is because of Geoff. I let a few other people check out the youtube link who are just casual gamers. They thought it was a lame+++ show. I think this show is only interesting for fanboys or people who feel related with one of the competitors (in a way we all feel related to Geoff). So this show seems like a bad investment, but who cares, it's the sponsors who're paying up for it anyways.. and the marketing people who set this up are probably living in their own world and celebrating the fact that they have their own show on air | ||
