One side views it as a religious issue: Thus, any arguments you use countering this are going to attack religion. then it becomes a debate over whether religion is valid or not. if you expect to see results from a discussion like this, you're crazy. 2.) The other side is arguing as if they have no burden of proof: all they're doing is arguing that it's wrong to ban. but no one is making an argument that gays are just as good at parenting straights. and there's a reason no one is or can make this argument... 3.) There is no conclusive proof that gays can make good parents: the timeframe is too short, sample size is too small, too many failures at marriage that are hetero and not enough longitudinal proof of homos raising normal kids. when i say "you're not doing much better", i mean within this thread, you're failing. all you're doing really is talking shit and saying the bible is wrong. sorry but nothing is as simple as that. you might ask "why start this thread in the first place"? As close as gay marriage and prop 8 are, they are actually different subjects. i wanted to discuss prop 8. i did not care for the opinion as to the validity of gay marriage because it's an unwinnable subject. but this thread has morphed into exactly that: a fruitless attempts on both sides trying to convince they're right with no valid proof from either side. so this thread needs to die | ||
