Ahaha, Dan! I teach English in Korea! - Don't go to a small hakwon (academy) but rather, work for the government or for a place that is known, like CDI or the Princeton Review. Unless you can speak Korean, sometimes smaller places will rip you off and not fulfill their contracts.

They aren't all jerks as Dan mentioned, but my God there are some terrrrrible English teaching white guys who think they are Gods. So annoying. Hanging out in the Hongdae area is fun, if you keep it light and are with your friends without spending as much as Dan does. Maybe it's different for girls, but .. yeah.

i stayed in seoul for 3 weeks during spring break when I was a high school senior. I lived in the south mostly and went to i think kangnam to drink/eat noraebang with my fellow korean friends. After like the third night of drinking I went out to walk for a little bit cuz during the gatherings everyone is speaking korean and im just sitting there looking at the girls in the restaurants and getting really bored. I didn't have a phone and got lost in those alleyways (might've been apgu) whichever place that has a lot of alleys, like wide alleys. so i was like fuck and bought some soju at a store and got really drunk and felt really really lonely cuz i didn't understand anything around me. It was the first time I realized how much that sucks not being able to communicate at all. Only other place I remembered was this restaurant called the milk bar in the middle of kangnam I think that was pretty nice and had a wall with random people painting on it. Then I went to the north side and everything did become shittier kinda like china with run down roads and dirty schoolboys walking around, but I think I saw the prettiest girls there during nights near the big streets with clubs, etc. Overall it was an okay experience it just really sucked cuz I couldn't understand korean and hadn't gotten addicted to sc back then so didn't play much and it seemed like for a student all there was to do was eat drink noraebang drink, and i also can't sing either. Next time I go i'll remember to go to a progaming game and eat better food though I thought the food there was all good even at the really cheap restaurants with the red sauce dipped rice cake things and those lunched with nothing but little dishes of vegetables and rice. Also I really liked the fried chicken there and sometimes the pizzas.

LOL theres nothing wrong with it and i really have nothing against people for teaching english i just had some funny experiences with them and posted like that to be humorous it wont be that bad
