I think some of you are exagerating a bit. Trump isn’t a full blown fascist yet, he just uses inflammatory rhetoric because that’s what seems to work. Last time he was in office he got voted out, democrats still have « some » amount of control in the house and senate even now. The USA isn’t in Russia-levels of authoritarianism yet but it seems you guys are slowly getting there.
He got voted out and then staged a violent coup.

Agreed. Trump's unprecedented decision to prevent the peaceful transfer of power is a serious issue. He doesn't *just* use inflammatory rhetoric, as Geiko asserted; Trump also uses authoritarian actions.

And now he pardoned the insurrectionists (edit: around 1000-1500, that's ~99% of them). He's one of the most criminal presidents in US history.

To be honest, at this rate I wouldn't be surprised if he set the White House on fire, blamed it on Canada (duh), and instituted martial law.

I mean we might do it again, but it has been a really long time since the last time we did it.

Every aspiring dictator needs a loyal band of brigands at his command.
JimmyTheGiant uploaded a video covering Elon's involvement in British politics. In a previous video he briefly covered the UK protests, but this is far more comprehensive with the focal point being Farage.

Why would he ever do that? Declaring yourself a Nazi is the act of losers like Anders Behring Breivik.
Every form of fascism needs their own branding. Stealing too much from other times and places is not the way to gain power.
Does Elon strike you as someone invested in doing his own work though
No, but he knows a lot about branding.
Twitter begs to differ lol
That rebranding was actually a lot smarter than it looks like on first glance. Twitter was having a massive branding problem, being associated with a disasterous takeover in most ways. Renaming it to X distracted from all of that, and made people discuss the name change instead. He failed at making X the letter of ElonWorld, and opened the door for BlueSky, but he really had nothing to lose.

It didn’t really distract from it at all, it just amplified it for many because the root problem was the same.
Least for me and my cohorts: 1. Hm I don’t like this takeover, I don’t like his politics/what he’s saying/the idea of one bloke being able to just unilaterally do things with platforms people value (delete where applicable). 2. Elon Musk has changed its name to X now, that’s also fucking stupid, I shall pay attention to what comes next, but I’m not confident. 3. Oh look, lots of other stuff I also dislike.
There is value in throwing out a distraction in such a scenario, the problem was Musk wouldn’t shut the fuck up for 5 minutes for such a strategy to work. I may have a great spot for hide and seek but if I pop my head up every 25 seconds and go ‘hello I am in here’ it has considerably less use.
It genuinely takes quite a lot of effort to get folks to quit using a platform, or migrate. From convenience, to existing community networks, or it may be embedded in your professional life. Musk has actually managed such a thing.
Now, I don’t think it’s nearly as large to your BlueSkys etc as some claim, plus those who like the new direction may somewhat compensate.

I mean, I dunno about the tangential stuff, but Twitter as a brand is still more powerful than X, I see more people call it Twitter than call it X anything but ironically lol, and Elon's been trying to make X work for a long time, I just can't see how Twitter to X anything better than trashing quality branding as a distraction, and thats at its very best
Also, every news organization I can think of describes it as 'X, formerly known as Twitter' or something to that effect.
Which feels awfully similar to the Artist formerly known as Prince. And we all know all well that rebranding worked. Same with Snoop Lion, etc. I think if people are still pairing the old name with the new name for clarity a couple years out, the rebranding failed.

In fairness to Prince that rebrand was due to some legal dispute he was having with a record label and not him trying to actually reinvent his brand.
Although your general point is correct, just felt I had to clear that up on behalf of my boy Prince saying as he’s not around to do it himself
I am a gamer after all. XCom has been a series which i greatly enjoyed. Sure, anything involving X can be porn, but in this case, it really should be aliens. In the best of all worlds, X.Com gives advice on how to fight a war against an alien invasion.
Yep, he should have chosen a normal name for it, something you can actually pronounce without sounding like a dork. Even something like 'siren' or 'megaphone' would have been better than X (but I can't really think of a better name than Twitter).

Damn, how has he not done MAGAphone, what an opportunity
He made it X because he thought it was cool and edgy, and that is it. When you think of him like a 13 year old try hard with way to much money everything he does makes a lot more sense (paying people to rank him up in video games, making the Nazi-heart will go out salute and so on).
Also has anyone opinion changed on him after this last couple of weeks? Reddit is sure having a field day with talking about pathetic he is in those game channels getting massively upvoted. But I was not a huge a fan before, but he did become way more of a try hard and more embarassing, before I thought he was just pretty awkward and trying to be cool.
