Faster is of course always better but I don't really see a big need for it right now. But if 1 gbit was available in my area I'd still jump on it.

It's usually at about 63-65 download and between 10 and 20 upload with a ping of 3-5 but now I'm sharing my internet with the laptop, so that slows it down a little bit. I am amazed to see it's still way above average and I pay roughly 8 dollars a month(actually a little bit less and I also get free phone service in the provider's network with 2 phones provided by them) I'd say it's a pretty sweet deal.

Thank you very much for that clarification, but you're completly wrong. Guess they have really pro internet in Iraq. They put optical lanes directly into the ethernet controller.

It's an ethernet cable socket in the wall. No router needed. Why does it come as a suprise Iraq is even a richer country than the united states. http://www.usdebtclock.org/.

Being a dick is not an appropriate response to him appropriately calling you out for making a retarded statement (the same thing I called you out on). You can try to make a horrible attempt at arguing semantics to get yourself out of it, but "fiber" is pretty commonly the short-hand of "fiberoptics" which in your context, is the way you meant it precisely. Which is what makes you wrong. You can either man-up or keep being a douche... your choice.

Living near Vienna (Approximately 20 kms) Internet is way worse and unstable from 4 to 8 p.m. here, because that's the time all the people get home from work and start surfing/downloading. Wrote a ton of letters regarding the internet infrastructure situation here to my local government administration, they don't give a f*ck. Only one Provider here, which is also way too overpriced. Austria is a corrupt mess.
