Currently have Verizon DSL. Not the one paying for it so I am not certain of the price but it advertises as 3Mbps and we get about ~0.7-0.8Mbps. The other choice is CrapOne, I mean CableOne. $58~ for their 5Mbps/500kbps plan. If you go over a certain amount in a day(VERY LOW AMOUNT) you get throttled to half that. If you do it on over half the days in a month they can terminate your account, etc. The only way to bypass this is to get their Business plans. ~$78 for a 5Mbps/1Mbps plan with unlimited data, or $78 for a 50Mbps/1Mbps with a 100GB monthly cap. Unless you go dial up(which my DSL pretty much is at this point) or Satellite(about same speeds as my DSL around here), you're screwed unless you move. Here are todays stats. Bad weather makes it even worse:

I just moved to a place in wisconsin about 30 minutes away from the twin cities and the only two options here are either satalite(super high ping=no games) or a MiFi device from a cell phone company. I have the MiFi and it is on 2G speed right now because I have a max download of 10Gb/month and then it goes from 4G(slow) to 2G(carrior pidgon speed)

no idea what the actual technology is...but I get 3mpbs/3mpbs...the ironic thing is for some reason i can watch 1080p streams (MLG,Netflix, hulu, everything!) and its great for streaming since its 3 upload...its strange that 3mpbs can handle 1080p i dont really understand but its great! Ironically I work for Verizon, wouldnt mind getting the fios but I dont live anywhere near their served areas :/

Not bad for Australia and it's increasing rapidly. Can't wait for the NBN to reach us. I pay $6/week to have a phone line and $2/week for internet connection unlimited downloads. Speed is throttled to this kind of level from 7am-7pmKST, faster at other times. Edit: I don't like that I had to wait more than 30 minutes for the client and all the patches of SC2 to download. We need better connection to Singapore/US.
