First of all D-Link is the shittiest company known to man. Get Lynksys. Ok here is proper directions to open the ports needed for Battle.net. 1- Doubleclick your Loca Area Network Connection Status (It should tell you your connection speed, time logged on, etc.) 2- Click the Support tab then copy down the DEFAULT GATEWAY. It should be something like 192.168.1.1 3- Type that address into INTERNET EXPLORER not firefox. 4- It should bring up your router/internet settings. (If it brings up a name/password screen put that in. Sometimes you can leave it blank and it works, if not you're shit out of luck.) 5- Open/forward ports 6112-6119 TCP/UDP. Those are the ports required for battle.net/starcraft. Save it or whatever and exit you might need to restart your computer, I don't know. 6- http://portforward.com/cports.htm This is a list of other programs/games ports that you can open for router shiestiness. Good Luck PS- Avoid wireless router if possible. Cords are always better. PPS- A lot of the time when people can't join your game its not just you. Its because both of you have routers. If you both have them with ports opened it should allow you to join each others games. So make all your friends fix their shit. I've noticed that people without routers can join my games but people with routers can't or have trouble. edit - Port 4000? no its 6112-6119 for sc/wc on b.net. I think 4000 is for diablo2 and some other stupid shit like C&C. 7- Turn off ALL firewall/antivirus programs. Routers come with built in firewalls which is why there is so many problems associated with them. If you are that paranoid about computer attacks just scan every morning or while you sleep. Or just scan files as you download them. There are 2 things that I hate dealing with on computers. They are Printers & Routers. They fucking suck, goodluck.

BAD idea. Instead, get a smidgen of computer knowledge and forward only the ports you need to your local IP. Making yourself DMZ is just asking to be the target of random brute force attacks. The router's internal firewall diverts most of that if you allow it to. I use direct connection DSL since there is DSL and never got any "Attacks".. Dunno where this Paranoia comes from, guess from the Firewall/AV companies. It's not like any retard that can google for "hackz" can kill your computer anymore. And those ppl that are actually able and interessted in hacking a computer will, for sure, search for some more interessting targets, since they to it to gather information or this strange kind of fame. They won't get any of it by hacking into Joe Average's computer and deleting his replays. Portforwarding does help, but most routers cannot even save as many forward rules as you would need to get everything working as you want, icq filetransfer, bittorrent, irc dcc, bnet, other games .. Just set yourself as DMZ and *never* get *any* of those router problems at all. Check your antivirus software to be up to date and you are fine. Firewalls and Routers blocking off "attacks" reminds me of the good old days of the "Norton Crash Guard" that should prevent your computer from freezing. It told me about 3-4 times a day it just prevented a crash and about 1-2 times a day it still crashed. If you uninstalled it you did not have any problems at all. So unless you have interessting or valuable (for others too!) things on your computer or maybe data from your company etc, don't overprotect yourself...

i can generally join games, but if there's more than 1 other person (the host) in there it'll lag badly. also i can host... sometimes. i think i can only host if i haven't joined another game recently, but i'm not sure. and if more than one person joins my games, then it'll lag. i'm guessing my Belkin router is trying to be smart and limits my UDP packets over the same port to just communicate with one other IP address. so yeah, you're probably mostly out of luck unless you want to replace the router. if so, first try connecting your computer directly to the cable modem for a few minutes to bypass the router and see if it works.
