That’d be a catastrophic defeat for US global hegemony. Characterizing it as “stopping” implies that the US has taken a forward position previously but is now no longer contesting it. The US is now fighting to try to win back what it had before, stopping is withdrawing, it is conceding, it is surrendering. But even if we assume that’s doable there’s also the unresolved nuclear issue. Nuclear deals with Iran previously rested on the shaky belief that the US didn’t really want to attack Iran and therefore Iran didn’t really need a nuclear deterrent. Both sides heading towards normalization paid for itself because you could pay Iran to not get a nuke with all the trade they got for not seeking a nuke.
The default is now that Iran needs a nuclear deterrent and everyone can see why. I don’t want them to have one but it’d be crazy to argue that they don’t need one after a superpower attempted a decapitation strike on them.
I'm happy to see dyed-in-the-wool Republicans like Matt Walsh have so accurately diagnosed the issues plaguing the Republican party. Last night's result was good. The Republicans response to it was good.
Thing is, the 2-party system makes it impossible for the USA to really break out of its problems. Both parties hold insane positions on certain issues.
Another great sign for democracy.... Trump didn't say the election was fixed.
I don't see any clear path to making the USA a better place for the hard working full time working American poor, lower middle class, and middle class. The upper middle class and rich don't need a plan. The upper middle class are spending too much time and money on their boats and downhill skiing equipment to need a plan.

Mississippi was actually considered 'safe' by 270towin. Never seen a state marked as safe go the other way before. Not sure it will obviously, as 43 votes with like 37000 remaining votes isn't a big margin, but wtf. Democrats performing 23% better than in 24, and also seems like they've performed like 3-4% better than polling average.

What do regular Americans worry about in the first five minutes after they wake up in the morning? They worry about their kids. Their bills. How they’ll afford to pay the mortgage and fill the tank. They don’t worry about Iran or renovating the White House or any of the numerous other things Trump spent the last year rambling about. Republicans did not speak to the issues that directly and immediately impact regular Americans. They did not present a compelling plan to deal with those issues. That’s why they’re getting crushed. And they deserve it.
During Trump's entire campaign I don't think I heard him talk about Canada or Iran even once. After getting elected it is all he talked about.
This is a good result for Canadians because blaming Canada for last night makes zero sense. Had a few Republican states hit hard by Canada's counter tariffs flipped to Democrat Trump blaming Canada might make a modicum of sense.
Citing Matt Walsh who is, like the self proclaimed Christofascist moron now doing a "well akshualy this was about the things Americans worry about and it's not Iran or White House renovations", as if Trump didn't directly fuck with their mortgages by fucking up the economy, their gas prices by attacking Iran, jesus christ how vapid do you have to be to find that anything other then incredibly dumb.
Oh, yeah, you need to be the type of vapid that finds Trump's response on Fox "excellent".

I'm not sure what the Tony Clifton in me thinks about it though. Trump would say that he has encouraged the central bank to keep FED rates extremely low.
It is still 2X easier to own a house and carry a mortgage in upstate New York than it is in New York's northern neighbours in south western Ontario.
He told the "work together with Democrats"-Lie the last time he lost the midterms too. We know how that turned out, I sincerly hope the Democrats won't even entertain the idea this time. Been there, done that.

Jimmy was just lying about what Trump said. The full quote was that he would veto any Democrat legislation that they authored but he was willing to work with them to pass Republican legislation. Jimmy decided to assert that the promise of months of vetos was a willingness to work together.
nah, that is not how the American democratic system works. Trump was nominated in may 2016 after the republicans voted for him in a primary that had over 15 candidates. He won twice and lost once. Even in the loss he acquired a substantial amount of the popular vote. No one in the Republican party has come close to mounting any kind of challenge...

He talks about quite a lot, Canada and Mexico were always in the list of "other countries are ripping us off" and his lack of fondness for Iran is over 40 years old public knowledge - watch the 1980 Rona Barrett interview and the 1987 Barbara Walters interview or read the transcripts where he alternatively talks about bombing, not being weak, having a war anyway if you let them do whatever they want, taking the oil, although he didn't shit on Carter directly, from 1980 his attitude was clear.

You wrote multiple times, in this thread, that US global hegemony already suffered a catastrophic defeat, that ship has sailed.
The best way for US to convince Iran they don't need nukes is to pack up and leave because the majority of Americans sent a very clear message to their politicians that they don't want to be involved in Middle East wars.
Making this about nukes again is literally playing into the hands of Trump and Nethyanahu, they weren't that close before the initial bombing campaigns, they are even further now, in fact according to all actual experts the late supreme leader was very much against the weapons program and put a fatwa on it, which is, according to Iranian president, as of September 2026 is still in place:
"Developing nuclear weapons is haram," he said, using the word forbidden, maintaining that even if some in Iran wanted to build a nuclear weapon, "religiously speaking, they are not allowed to pursue that path."
You can choose to join the oBlade and Introvert in disbelieving them and insisting that USA has to "finish the job" or whatever crazy shit they believe in, unfortunately, it seems like if this is your line of thinking there is 0 way that Democrats even with a good majority in senate can move away from this propagandized shit and bring the world back into relative normalcy.

ummm, in 1980 every American hated Iran though. Canadians and all of Canada universally hated Iran in 1980. So Trump not liking Iran in 1980 doesn't mean much.

@0:35"they'll call and they'll say how do we get this stuff done and we'll work together".. SOUNDS LIKE NEGOTIATING TO ME. then Trump goes on and on talking about the good job the Democrats did. He talked about how he is friends with some Democrats...etc.

I'm more like Tony Clifton than Nathan Fielder. Also, I don't think you got the gist of what i was saying. Everyone has a little Santa Claus in them. "The Santa Claus in me wants to give you a christmas present". The person is not saying they ARE Santa Claus or even like him. They are saying they possess a "sub self" entity within themselves that is like Santa Clause. Everyone possesses an opposite gender-self in their psyche. That does not mean they ARE the opposite gender. I hope this helps clear up the confusion.
Seriously though, Fielder is a Canadian-Jew as am I. If you've read my posts you should know my top 4 comedians of all time are all jews. Andy Kaufman, Jerry Seinfeld, Nathan Fielder, and Tony Clifton.

That defeat already happened half a year ago. US hegemony is already dead. The allies upon which that hegemony was founded are actively looking elsewhere.
Nothing the US can do stops the entire world from already knowing that nukes are the only protection that exists. Christ even the allies of US hegemony have renewed their desire for nukes to protect themselves from America.
Everything bad that happens when the US surrenders to Iran has already happened and can already not realistically be stopped. The Obama apology tour worked the first time to smooth over Bush faults. After Trump one and two that ship was sailed. We will resume being friends with America because it is economically profitable but no one will trust you again for decades.
