I wonder if we are still going to hear about how unfair the senate is. Kidding, I know we will lol A terrible system is still terrible, even when it accidentally works. The difference in voters behind each senator is an insult to democracy, and it both benefits and hurts both parties.

TRUMP" Won't send any traffic to Truth Social, so here's a Bsky repost of it: https://bsky.app/profile/atrupar.com/post/3mzhgxkzkr22v So after saying "pretend I am on the ballot" repeatedly, once his minions lost badly, he distanced himself from all the losers that he was promoting. So he can claim that he didn't lose, just those other losers that he barely knows. The narcissist can never accept that he lost, but he sure can throw everyone else under the bus.

call Bibi? how about just visit POTUS and thank him? this infantilisation of Trump to deflect criticism and responsibility is a disgrace. how much longer Republicans? he is the Commander in Chief. absolutely nothing happens with Iran without his say so. @Ren for a loose cannon(or one with a couple screws loose) he is quite predictable.

OR smart people with incredible foresight designed a system balanced on elegant compromises, that every elementary school student learns, that has weathered everything thrown at it for 250 years and it doesn't just not work when you don't like the results and gets lucky when you like the results.

To the Democrats, good luck, make use of this opportunity. And to be my more usual pessimistic self, remember this doesnt mean the Democrats message worked, or that people support their ideas. This is no guarantee for the future. This only happened because Trump utter destroyed the economy, and Democrats are going to be punished for not fixing his mess fast enough in a few years.

Like the world isnt full of countries that are older then the US that do better democratically. And you mostly just copied the British.

Excuse you we did it much worse than the British because we codified our "minority" rule into our Constitution so it cant be changed. The Brits managed to mostly declaw the House of Lords over time, the way our Constitution is written we literally cannot do that to the Senate.

Also, I wonder whose victory or defeat the results are? For example, 2020 seems like more of Trump's loss than Biden's win. Are these results Democratic wins or Republican losses? Are these Schumer's victories or Talarico's and Abdul's? Will parties internally reflect on these results?

The word is "than," and it really isn't. For example, you can say Japan and Korea are three- and five-thousand-year-old countries. But their age as democracies which is the relevant issue is nowhere near that of US. Furthermore, the US had to create their modern forms. Lastly, whether they're better is a matter of opinion. Your phrase "do better democratically" probably holds no meaning other than anti-Americanism. On the other hand, I define "Do well democratically" as when I can vote directly for my direct representative. That's my value judgment. I can't do anything but that in the US. That's great. I don't have to, and actually can't, vote for a party. What could be better? I mean, a country can democratically subordinate itself to the EU and become an impotent vassal. A country can vote itself out of democracy. It can vote itself into instability. A country can be so democratic as to not realize it's weak and vulnerable to coup or attack, and soon end. Whatever the "democraticness" is means nothing when you have nothing to show for it in the end. We copied from Britain things that you also don't like, like that the winner wins, which all things considered could probably be derived independently because it's so obvious. We took it from Britain because they were the only other representative government to even take anything from to begin with (i.e., again, world not full of older democracies).

Shenanigans may also happen, but at least at this point it seems like the Republicans who fear consequences have won within the party and things are calm. The past ten years should make everyone wary of how things will end. Also, I wonder whose victory or defeat the results are? For example, 2020 seems like more of Trump's loss than Biden's win. Without his (not Republican) global trade war and Iran this landslide would not exist. Republicans would still have lost another President but it Texas would not be turning blue, it would just be swing states.

I can't believe the state I was in post-2024 results and the state I'm in tonight. 2024 was worth it for this moment I can't lie. Texas swept the state wide races, we're gonna have control of the State House. We're going to be up 80 seats in Congress, 55 seats in the Senate. I only hope we can continue this momentum into 2028. I fucking love this country tonight. What a fucking night. It was such a joy watching you yesterday, I unfortunately only made it up until you lost your shit over the Texas governor flip but seeing that really made me sleep well, thank you for that and thank you all in the US who did your civic duty, went out and showed the world there is still a majority of Americans who are not on board with insane policies, warmongering and global destabilization. Already taking the hit, deal with that and maybe lay off some tarriffs so things can recover. Iran was worth it, but what he's done with the economy was a self-inflicted wound. Introvert, you are a joke of a human, no, you did not reply to people asking you what exactly from this GOP you support, me and many others listed things this GOP stands for and you just skipped it over posting some inane snippets about Democrats and regurgitating idiotic Iran talking points. And you are still at it, no one in their right mind supports this idiotic war, well, except the deep cut cultists like you and oBlade, so enjoy trading away a decade of Senate and House gains for bombing a school of little girls and achieving nothing, you ghouls.

Republicans would still have lost another President but it Texas would not be turning blue, it would just be swing states. That is my thinking too, but it makes things shaky for the future, since Democrats need to drive positive change while Trump is still president and also claim the success. Trump will surely play the blame game hard for the next two years, either by saying Democrats are blocking his economic plan or by claiming ownership of any changes Democrats push through. Also, touching on immigration or the rights of minorities will, of course, be blown up, while those changes should still be done out of principle. The internal discussion on whose success these results were will also affect much of the next presidential candidate election.
