Everything that Trump is doing is straight out of Project 2025. We've known about Project 2025 for years, and yet despite knowing what the Republicans wanted to do, they ran Joe Biden again when he was so old and unfit that he couldn't even make it all the way through the election.

I hope they're proud of themselves. I hope the Democratic Party leadership is so happy that good thing they stuck to seniority and making sure to put "electable candidates" first, that they are happy watching everything go to complete hell, because at least they stuck to their precious gameplan. /barf

And you think blaming Trump voters for getting exactly what they want is going to do anything? This is like blaming a 5 year old for pooping in the toy aisle at Walmart. You're not supposed to blame the 5 year old you're supposed to blame the parent who is supposed to prevent it from happening.

The Democrats don't represent me, they never have. I'm not a member of their party because I can't stand how they keep trying to toe this line of being socially liberal but only when it's convenient, and being for workers' rights but only when big business says its ok.

The only fucking purpose they serve is to keep the Republicans out of power, or at the very least to hold enough power in Congress to stop them from going completely crazy unchecked.

They don't have any of it now. They lost the Executive, both branches of Congress and we have a Supreme Court stacked with Conservatives for the next 30 years. When the fuck am I supposed to get mad at the Democrats? Never?

They've managed to lose so badly that we are staring down a government that is going to cause such fucking chaos that it will take 100 years to fix if we ever do manage to fix it.

They are a failure of a political party and they need to fucking hear it. Because if they are allowed to keep running the same plays over and over again, this is NEVER going to get any better.

Agreed. Maybe the democrats were a bit shitty. But the real blame lies with the people who actually voted for the fascist, not with the opposition for not being good enough.

If the US had better voters, we wouldn't have this problem. You could have the democrats and then a leftwing party. That is not the world we live in. We got fascists and really boring centrists, because that is what the people vote for.

One can probably argue about media and so forth, but the fundamental concept of a democracy is that the voters as the sovereign are competent enough to make good decisions, which means that they can also take blame if they make bad ones. And if they make such incredibly obviously bad decisions that the US has been making, then they are the main problem.

Far less than half the country voted for the Republicans. You can blame non-voters for their inaction but that blame has to fall, at the very least, equally on the Democrats for their rank ineptitude and inaction in the face of fascism.
Incremental change is the Democrat version of Trickle Down economics.

Oh yea just btw. Democrats are mostly opposed to ending Gerrymandering.

It's come up dozens of times in dozens of states, most of the blue states won't do it because they want to keep their gerrymandering power too much to make sure the Republicans can't use it.

California is only one of 7 states to pass laws to take redistricting out of the hands of the state legislature. Only one of SEVEN states. THREE of those states are Republican states. Which means that only 4 Democrat majority states have passed this. Oh and it took a Republican Governor to get rid of gerrymandering in California. If we had left it up to the Democrats we would still have it.

It's fucking pathetic.

You’re all wrong and the democrats were right. The problem you have is you’re looking at this like European libcucks instead of real Americans. The problem wasn’t that the democrats were too supportive of Israel, too tough on immigrants, too business friendly etc. Those were the only parts of their platform that resonated with American voters at all. The democrats were right to go where the voters wanted on those things but they wouldn’t sell out trans Americans etc. which ended up being a mistake because it turns out the Americans really hate trans peoplereally care about the integrity of women’s athletics.

The idea that if they present some left wing European idea of a real opposition to right wing messaging they’d have given people a reason to vote for them is absurd. They’d have given the American public fifty more reasons to vote against them. The American public hate all that shit people in this topic talk about. They’d have gotten massacred so badly that every district would have been gerrymandered forever by the Republican supermajority and constitutional reforms would have been on the table.

The democrats tried to find the sweet spot where you can be just awful enough to be electable without persecuting too many people. They missed it because they underestimated how awful they needed to be. I mean fuck, Kamala was a woman of colour. How stupid are they?

Considering how much of a "team sports game" politics is in the US it's pretty normal to shout at your team for performing badly and losing even if the other team played well. Sports teams are actually probably more reactive to their supporters demanding new leadership than Democrats are. Trump didn't play well, Democrats are really just that awful. Republicans weren't forcing turnovers, Democrats we're practically handing them the ball repeatedly.

No one forced them to run a guy they knew wasn't capable and just try to gaslight everyone into supporting him for years. That guy waiting until it was too late to drop out is exclusively his and his Democrat supporters fault, not Republicans.

That said, I want to reiterate. While I'd love everyone to become revolutionary socialists, that's not really what I'm doing here. I'm simply advocating people that want to be part of a functional opposition to the rise of fascism spend some of the time they currently do shitposting waiting for Democrats to tell them who they're voting for (midterms is probably the same people they have for the last several elections) trying out socialism instead.

Not asking people to do much, so it really does feel like people just want to whine/shitpost. None of the lib/Dem electoralists actually have any intention of doing anything (besides voting blue no matter who) to develop an organized opposition to the rise of fascism.

Trump keeps saying he wants Canada to become "the 51st state". Canada is far too big to be a single state. What Trump really wants is Alberta and its oil. Alberta gets a raw deal from Ottawa as its primary concern is saving the environment. The USA can give Albertans the freedom they crave.

Alberta is either the most and 2nd most right wing province in Canada and a sure win for Republicans.

There is enough truth to maybe make this believable to outsiders but it is wrong. You don't make Albertan's happy by threatening us. Trump is way further right than anyone outside of the super rural. Who are getting murdered by the exchange rate and would have done really poorly with tariffs.

What it could do is create a lot of momentum in Canada to complete pipelines so that we can send our oil to other markets. Or even build up our own refining capacity. Only someone with extreme TGS would think this plays out well in Canada and helps the USA in the long term.

Glad we agree the average American is best compared to a 5year old shitting in supermarkets...

Maybe a more fruitful discussion would be had about how Americans became 5 year olds shitting in super market aisles rather then the campaign that Democrats ran, which I feel very confident in saying absolutely did not matter.

No amount of difference message or strategy was going to keep Republicans from the election because the voters are to busy shitting in Walmart to actually listen to that message.

Grocery prices are up because of global inflation problems so lets vote for the other guy. That is the beginning and end for the 'average voter'.

Of course Democrats trying to Weekend at Bernie's Biden across the finish line hurt them unnecessarily and was a catastrophic error completely owned by Democrats alone. Same goes for the Pied Piper strategy.

Basically the two worst political strategy decisions in our lifetimes that were exclusively controlled by the Democrat party and gave us Trump.

Never?

No amount of difference message or strategy was going to keep Republicans from the election because the voters are to busy shitting in Walmart to actually listen to that message.

100%.

Do you have any idea how many of my Republican friends online only feel comfortable talking politics with me because I'll actually sit down and talk policy with them?

Do you know what would happen if I did nothing but call them bigots and racists? The discussion ends and they stop talking to me. Their positions don't change, only now they aren't even hearing my ideas anymore.

That's what the Democrats have done. They've managed to get half of the country to completely tune out to everything they say. Not that they have much good to say anyway which I can say as a Liberal that listens to what they say.

They spent the entire election doing nothing but attacking Trump and everyone allied with Trump. They conveniently did nothing to show how they would be any better for the country than Trump was, they just kept hammering away about Trump Trump Trump when that has proven to not work when Hillary tried it in 2016 and lost.

The most popular Democrats we have in this country are the ones that stay focused on issues and that communicate those issues clearly and consistently. The number of Democrats that do this on a regular basis are very few, and all of them are hated by the establishment Democrats that run the party.

This didn't happen overnight and it didn't start with Trump. The Democrats have been edging towards this inevitable outcome for a long time, because it takes them losing to finally see some motivation for improving their message and their messengers.

A Real American isn't even a thing. Is that a guy with a big cowboy hat and boots with spurs shooting his revolvers in the air yelling yee haw, just like Yosemite Sam?

I'm not saying they should've made a staunch left turn, USA is way too USA for that. But failing to make your program resonate and not running out of steem is something that will lose your popularity contest 10/10 times.
They should've ran a hot (black) American woman, preferrably with big boobs.

The point you’re making here is that it doesn’t matter how racist the white nationalists get, it’s important to never call them racist. Just sit down with them like rational people and discuss just how many brown people should be sent to the camps. The democrats made the mistake of calling the white nationalists racist. You’re absolutely right. They thought voters would understand that they shouldn’t be voting for the racists but they didn’t have the pulse of the American public at all.

In your analogy, you have the Democrats in the role of the parent and the Republicans in the role of the 5 year old shitting in the aisle. Why do you think the Democrats are the parent of the Republicans? The Democrats are not the parents, they are peers. The Democrats are another 5 year old classmate of the Republicans. They may not be great, but they aren't shitting in the aisles and they're not responsible for their peer doing the shitting. So why are you yelling at a kid because they didn't stop another kid from shitting in the aisle?

The Democrats are not the parents, the voters are. The Republican voters birthed this aisle shitting kid and let that kid get away with it. Hell, they seem to think it's funny and encourage it. So get fucking mad at the parents that keep encouraging their kid to shit in the aisle.

Of course, you can stand on the sideline, not have kids, and claim your moral superiority. However, someone's fucking kid is going to be running this country, so you should probably help raise that kid to be better instead. Usually that doesn't mean ignoring your kid for not being good enough, it means giving them guidance. I'm all for that. Tell the Democrats what you want and (here's where the analogy breaks down) pick the best primary candidates to put up against the aisle shitting kid.

You had every right to vote Jason Palmer, Marianne Williamson, or Dean Phillips along with every other Democrat voter. Instead, they voted for Biden. Other potential major candidates were too chicken shit to run against him. If you think Biden was the wrong kid to put forward, then your problem is with the voter and the other candidates too scared to run.

Still, the main fault is with the people who have encouraged and enabled the Republicans and those people are the Republican Voters. Don't ever forget that.
Playing better than standard requires deviation. This divergence usually results in sub-standard play.

I've been a driving voice behind the narrative that the US is way more racist than Democrats or Republicans can recognize for years here. I still reject this. It's not like it was a Reagan era blowout. Just being marginally less shitty and recognizing how much people hated health insurance CEO's would have been plenty to put them over the top even after all their catastrophic unforced errors.

EDIT: "Be more racist" has been the conclusion Democrats have drawn from every loss since the 90's

No Kwark, the point is that there are millions of every day normal rational people who look at the two parties as equally bad. The number of people who are actually happy about what Trump is doing with Immigration and Tarrifs are low compared to the number of Americans who voted for him just because they felt like something had to change when the Democrats were in power.

You need to understand that there are Americans who vote for Republicans just because and I mean JUST because they think the Democrats are trying to take their guns away. I'm not even kidding, there are millions of Americans that do this.

The Republicans have managed to sway the public into arguing over wedge issues that most Americans don't actually care about too much and then have dragged the Democrats into enough of these wedge issue arguments that most Americans just tune out of politics altogether, and every time they pop back up to listen and they see Joe Biden speaking looking like he's struggling to even keep his eyes open, they start to wonder if maybe the Republicans have a point.

You need to actually look around, talk to Republicans, hear why they hate Democrats so much, hear why they are willing to vote for people they KNOW are terrible just because they hate Democrats so much.

You need to understand that Democrats are in BIG BIG trouble. You don't need to agree with Republicans on everything, but you need to be willing to see that the Democrats need to change because if the Democrats keep getting told that they are doing everything right and they keep losing, then nothing is ever going to get any better.

Your argument falls apart when the Democrats make it a point to either rig the primary or prevent us from having an open primary altogether.

Oh yea did you forget that the last time we actually had a full primary was 2016? If the Democrats had had their way, the next time we would have had actually had an open primary would have been in 2032.

You don't think knowing that STILL pisses me off? Oh you can be sure that it does.

You kow what racist white nationalists are? Vindictive. You fuck em over, you lose them and they've just become your nemesis for seemingly trivial matters. They entrench themselves in all the wackadoodle conspiracy theories and no amount of rope throwing or crumb trail backtracking is going to lead them out of their enchanted forest. Now what? They're still here, they still stand up and breathe and piss and shit and are loud as fuck and they're half of your fucking population. You've lost them because you couldn't figure out a way not to hurt their fragile 5 year old self unactualized personas. You need to treat them as mentally ill people and give them the proper care they need, and not treat them as fully realized adults.

It's like you guys don't understand you guys are dealing with 170 million people that need special attention. So treat them with the velvetiest of gloves when being the threatening trans advocate that you are.

Or alternatively, if you're not willing to do that, keep at it, alienate more, sink more into ideocracy and then throw your hands up and proclaim once more that you chose this. Question is how long can you stand it to live in a place like that where everyone just becomes more and more unhinged?
