It is worth noting that Trump said today that he is going to ask Putin when they meet if he interfered with our election. What a fucking joke. Any conservatives want to defend his refusal to accept Russian interference? I'm sure it's all just a coincidence.

You realize that Rosenstein just said that he briefed Trump on this earlier this week, right?

Meaning what?

Meaning that he posted a bullshit tweet implying that Trump is unaware of what's going on and making quite ludicrous conclusions based upon that tweet.

That makes it worse, not better. Why would Trump say TODAY that he would ask Putin if Russia interfered with our election? Why say that if he was told earlier that they have proof Russia did? Add on top of that over a year of reports from the intelligence agencies saying the same, and even the recent Senate report confirming the same. That he would still feel the need to ask Putin, and say that publically, should give any fair minded person cause for concern.

You seriously can't comprehend why Trump would state that? It should be obvious: Trump is setting the table for all of the things that he wants to discuss with Putin during their upcoming summit, and he's doing it in a non-confrontational way.

Nice, glad to see that racist line of reasoning used on foreign soil, not at all embarrassing. By the way, anyone from the UK would be an immigrant.

Its ok, we have exactly that brand of racism over here too. Just look at anything Nigel Farage ever said.

If you want to, by the way, I believe you can listen to excerpts from his radio show on TEH INTARWEBZ. Google up LBC and see if you get hits.

If you want to. By which I mean if you're drunk or just too damn happy and need some sadness to bring you down a bit.

I think Trump really wants to be buddies with Putin for some reason that we don't entirely know at this point. Because Trump's normal stance on diplomacy is "attack attack attack, claim everything is great".

This isn't really accurate. Trump goes out of his way to be nice to leaders with whom he is trying to build a relationship from scratch. He wants a productive summit, so he's not going to lead it off with a big a "fuck you" to Putin.

He admires strong leaders. The strongest leaders are people like Putin, and Kim Jong Un, Napoleon, that kind of person. These are people who show real leadership, and Trump wants to learn from them so he can rule lead like they do.

I don't buy that since it is based on the yet to be seen notion that Trump performs foreign policy in some chess like way, planning moves ahead. Trump has said before that he believes Putin over our own intelligence. I guess we will just have to wait and see what he says after the meeting. My guess is that if he mentions it at all it will be to say that Putin denies it and he believes him.

Duterte, afaik.

Not that it makes that one better, but alas.

I feel like at this point it's our fault to not see the grand strategic mastermind behind all the moronism that Trump embodies.

He's a great diplomat. The greatest.

He's gone out of his way to be nice to Putin in particular, KJU, and Xi. He's picked as many fights as possible with America's traditional allies, like Canada, Britain, Germany, etc. Now he's bitching about possibly leaving NATO. This doesn't concern you at all??

If we accept that international diplomacy runs on playground rules, I guess I could accept that. But that doesn't excuse Trump excusing the invasion of Ukraine and other things Russia in recent interviews. Other nations watch this coverage and don't see it as 5D chess. They see the President throwing Ukraine to the wolves to be buddy buddy with Putin.

So I question how productive this summit is going to be, especially with how hard Trump got played by NK and the EU nations at the last summits.

Bibi, Xi Jinping after they met personally, Kim Jong Un after they started talking about a possible summit, Salman of Saudi Arabia, Duterte.

Trump is only nice to leaders that he can engage in quid pro quo arrangements with. Obviously Western democracies can't bribe the guy because that would be political suicide. That's less of an issue for guys like Xi Jinping and Salman.

Not really. Like I said before, I don't really pay attention to what Trump says so much as I pay attention to the bottom line of what he's done. Rhetoric is Trump's tactic to get what he wants. Why y'all keep missing that obvious point is beyond me. Let's just take a look at the recent NATO summit as an example. Here's what the bloody New York Times wrote at the beginning of its editorial board statement today:

Now that the smoke has cleared from the NATO summit meeting, the most tangible result is apparent: President Trump advanced President Barack Obama’s initiative to keep the allies on track to shoulder a more equitable share of NATO’s costs. Mr. Trump even signed on to a tough statement directed at Russia. For once he saw eye to eye with his predecessor.

Source.

Seriously, all of y'all were acting like a bunch of rabid hyenas in here yesterday. You should be embarrassed.

Yes. Obama invaded the Ukraine with Russia's army. The amazing amount of double think someone needs to take that statement at face value would cause brain damage.
