Trumps pretty open that he will do anything to win, but personally I believe in the US elections , at least in the sense that they are not stuffing ballots or anything like that. Clearly all the dark money is bad, and all the miss information is bad, and letting so much foreign influence is bad. But at least theoretically both sides could do it.

And/or it would get spun into "Democrats couldn't assassinate Trump with bullets, so they're trying to kill him with fake news again" and it having come from Putin would just be proof that Dems are in bed with the russians etc. There's no media that will actually make Trump look bad for some people. Putin could make public a recording of Trump explicitly asking Putin to help rig US elections and I still don't think it would 'be enough'.
