Trump is like a movie villain that keeps coming back. Multiple criminal indictments, ballot bans, assassination attempt. They’ve tried almost everything they can to get rid of him short of being appealing enough to get more votes.

He lost the popular vote twice. Also the criminal indictments were because of the crimes.

The photo of Trump getting up and defiantly raising his fist in the air with a bloody face is probably going to raise a lot of funds for his campaign. If there’s one good thing to say about Trump it’s that he knows how to stick the landing.

I think that fusion’s comment is more in regards to the on going comments between kwark/some others and GH which have gotten really out of hand. I feel really uncomfortable with the way conversations in this thread have gone and would politely request that we stay a bit more focused on the principals of this thread please.

Why would you use an AR-style rifle for an assassination attempt? Of course, the reporting could be using "AR-style" to refer to any gun that is black, or something like that...

When everyone you don't like is Hitler its ok to use the legal system to hunt down your political opponents, and when that doesnt work its easy for them to rationalise hunting down people with guns.

One of my takeaways so far is that we need stricter gun control so that any idiot who wants a gun can’t just go get one and try to assassinate Trump. I’m worried about copycat attempts.

That's just as much as a conspiracy theory as the theory this was a staged job, good job.
Like the dude who blasted Abe, there likely wasn't any real political consistency in the justification because the majority of people who actually act on this shit have no real political motivation. He just had a grievance for whatever reason and just acted on it.

Because it’s all pointless. The constitution says if you want a gun you’re allowed to have a gun. There’s no debate to be had.
It’ll be interesting to see which direction Trump goes though. He’s the man who famously said to seize the guns now and worry about legal justifications later. He’s no friend of the second amendment.
