These are men who are essentially empty husks of self-image and ego. They don't really have anything other than their exaggerated masculinity and position. Without being a cop, they would see themselves as nobodies. They don't have anything to fall back on psychologically. That is a whole lotta love right there. Not saying it doesn't fit the bill for some, but a persons position or trade doesn't define who they are. Even soldiers don't line up in some monolithic way. I feel like it is implied that when someone says something about a group, they are not saying "And I think literally every single person fitting this description applies to what I am saying", but maybe I am wrong. People of Team Liquid: If I ever say something about a group, I am talking about some non-100 percentage of that group. I will say the vast majority of cops I have interacted with *need* the label of cop to sustain themselves. They were broken people before and after they were cops. The only thing that gives them a legitimate sense of confidence is their title as "cop". They are often broken people. All's I'm saying is that was some serious Terminator 2 going on.

I don’t know what you mean by that but I like terminator 2 so I’ll take it as a compliment XD

So trump is visiting Iowa, looks to be gearing up for a 2024 run. Do we see if attempted coup round 2 is more successful then the first time around. We have seen a couple republican states set up the ground work for overturning there voters. Roller coaster is not over yet.

He could just get elected again. An early poll showed Trump is Republicans best shot at winning and polling better now than he did against Biden all of 2020.
... an Emerson College poll shows Biden would lose to former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical showdown for president if both ran in 2024 — 47-46 percent. Biden has mentioned he intends to run for re-election; Trump has been cagey about it.
Biden is 78; Trump 75.
Biden does defeat Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, a former Bay State governor and presidential Republican nominee, by a few percentage points in the Emerson poll.
Pitted against DeSantis, the president polls 48% to 36%.
Up against Romney, Biden wins 42% to 23%

From the Dems' side, would there be anyone stronger to oppose Trump than Biden? I assume not?

I'm still not convinced Trump will be fit to run in 2024. I also think current polling will be way worse than 2024. Once covid is over (lol maybe) and people are less salty about actual leadership in afghanistan, he'll be in a good position. If the economy is doing alright, covid is old news, and afghanistan can be framed well, he'll be in a way better position.

Can someone explain to me why anyone would take a livestock de-wormer rather than a vaccine to protect against covid? I simply do not get it.
www.theguardian.com
Oklahoma hospitals deluged by ivermectin overdoses, doctor says ... Ivermectin is used to kill internal and external parasites in livestock animals and, in smaller doses, in humans ...
This week, the influential podcaster Joe Rogan, who has been dismissive of vaccines, announced he had tested positive for Covid and was taking ivermectin.
In Arkansas, the drug was given to inmates at a jail. Louisiana and Washington issued alerts after an increase in calls to poison control centers. Some animal feed supply stores have run out of the drug because of people buying it in its veterinary form.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) cited a case of a man who drank an injectable form of ivermectin intended for cattle. He suffered hallucinations, confusion, tremors and other side effects and was hospitalised for nine days.
...
I do like the CDC response www.theguardian.com:
the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had a simple message for Americans contemplating using ivermectin, a medicine used to deworm livestock, instead of getting a Covid shot:
“You are not a horse,” it said. “You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.”

I think its because they won't be told what to do. Think about it. Its the same people saying that we should all take the vaccine who are saying we shouldn't take horse de-wormer. Conspiracy much?

Or simply not wanting to accept that those damn liberals were right.

Every single story that comes out, I feel more and more like Ivan Drago mixed with Bukowski. This is the saddest comedy.

This story was debunked by the hospital itself over the weekend, look at the "update" (which should have been a retraction) buried at the end of the article. You can follow thr link to the FB post.
Northeastern Health System in Sequoyah said in a statement posted on Facebook later on Saturday that Dr McElyea was not an employee but was affiliated with a medical staffing group that provided coverage for its emergency room.
NHS Sequoyah had not treated any patients due to complications related to taking ivermectin, including overdose, the statement said.

This country is great.
Stab someone in the throat you might get arrested.
Incubate a mutant viral strain that has the potential to kill thousands if not millions, it's "my body my choice."
Errr, unless you're a woman. Someone has the misfortune of being born with a vagina? I assume you were being metaphoric with "someone," but you better tell it how to make do with the fact it has no purpose other than cleaning, cooking and producing children.
Stupid fantasy football brained idiots who think public health and safety is a competitive sport and can't back down when they are wrong because they would LITERALLY RATHER DIE than admit "defeat."
When terrorists attacked NY we went to WAR over 3,000 souls. These incompetent and murderous governors and anti-vax I-hesitate-to-say "leaders" (idiots) have killed that many and again a hundredfold, and we just have to sit and watch them do it. Fucking stupid. I'd piss on their graves if I thought they were worth the wait in line or the fluid itself.

Yeah, the cognitive dissonance is astounding. Today is September 7th, which means in 4 days, millions of anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers will unironically claim that the loss of 3,000 American lives was a terrible tragedy. It absolutely was, but if someone is currently enabling a supervirus that's already killed 650,000+ Americans, maybe they should take their faux-patriotism virtue signaling down a notch.

“You are not a horse,” it said. “You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.” If you think you’re smarter than everyone and know best, when it turns out you are wrong do you admit it or double down?
People tend to be extremely reluctant to do the former if they’re emotionally invested or some position is tied in with some wider sense of identity. Even at a subconscious level, whereas people who aren’t emotionally invested can shrug and say ‘ok my bad I was wrong on that.’
In this case it’s more about some anti-authority streak or ‘owning the libs’ than anything coldly rational from these folks, to change course is to admit those crazy libs had a point.
So they’ll find a halfway house, perhaps they know someone who died from Covid or whatever, so they’re past the point of outright being able to deny it exists and are perhaps worried for their own health. But to take the vaccine is a step too far against their ideological posturing, so they’ll hunt for something else to assuage their fears while not crushing their own sense of self.
Even if it’s something as ridiculous as horse dewormer.
