This with new polling showing that less than 30% of the country approve of the shutdown or the wall in general. But to be honest, it doesn’t matter. He can give a state of the union with a shut down government and look like a damn fool praising his administrations accomplishments while being guarded by people he refuses to pay. It will be just like his days in real estate. Isn't that effectively just barring most people from countries that are severely destabilized? On the other hand, our court system appears to have an impossibly large back log. Yes. It also puts quotas on the number of asylum seekers from that area too. It is what we call a poison pill. It makes the bill impossible for the Democrats to vote for. This bill wasn’t negotiated with the Democrats. It was negotiated with the Republicans. This isn’t a plan to open the government, but to make the Democrat look bad. It’s a bad plan too, because Democrats are not shy about shitting on bills they had no hand it crafting.

WH has already published that they (and Pres. Trump) accept him as only legal representation of Venezuela. Let's see if they are willing to push that through...

Also, and I can't stress this enough, it's a human rights violation.

Also, I’m glad this story about Biden being paid 200k to give an October 2018 speech in western Michigan in support of Fred Upton, a Republican who barely held onto his congressional seat, is hitting the waves. He is not the path forward for Dems.

Also he specifically cites threats from the President against his family. It is Cohen, so take it with a grain of salt. But also Trump has been actively calling for an investigation into Cohen's family. On January 24 2019 03:59 farvacola wrote: Could be related to potential obstruction of justice charges? Cohen refusing to give testimony shores up the notion that Trump’s threats have led to a palpable, direct injury. He is not the path forward for Dems. I saw that and I’m very glad. I like Biden as a whole, but the man is living in the past and needs to leave politics. I don’t care if that Republican was Biden’s friend, from all reports the guy opposes the ACA in every way. There was no reason to give that speech and he could have easily avoided it. It is only icing on the cake that he got 200K for doing it.

Well, I hope AOC doesn't have to get involved, but if she does, I hope she doesn't hesitate to throw her weight behind someone not-Biden.

Of course people are going to get to endorse who they want, but they won’t let 2016 happen. They are already trying to create a blind lottery for debates to assure every candidate has a slot if they have to hold them over two days. And lucky for all of us, everyone who was in charge of the DNC during 2016 was purged from leadership. It all comes down to whether or not "the establishment" will fight what is happening or not. And I don't think they will. This blue wave was such a surge or energy from younger people that there is just no way they feel like they could get away with tipping scales. I'll be really frustrated if the establishment backs either Warren or Biden, since they are basically only there because of seniority. Warren was like an intro to Bernie, but we are so past that at this point. And she has a remarkably small amount of charisma. Same with Biden. Their messaging is very poor.

While I'd love to see him try, I wouldn't get my hope up. He will try and convince McConnell to let him use the Senate chamber (tho seating there would be an issue) and if that doesnt work he'll do it from the White House, or worse, some impromptu rally with a bunch of cultists cheering him on. Hell, maybe even WV! The Governor has personally invited Trump to give the SOTU from the WV Capital.
