Although this thread does not function under the same strict guidelines as the USPMT, it is still a general practice on TL to provide a source with an explanation on why it is relevant and what purpose it adds to the discussion. Failure to do so will result in a mod action.

to be fair Ontario is a shit show and has been for awhile. I worked out of province because I couldn't find a decent job here. The guy who trained me to handle my machines barely made more than the people in fucking McDonalds but if he went to Alberta / Saskatchewan / Iqaluit he'd quadruple his salary. It's kind of sad watching Ontario crash and burn over the course of nearly two decades. All the large industry in my home town packed up and went to either the US or Mexico during the late 90's before the larger recession hit us as well. It's a pretty common story you'll hear if you talk to people who are outside of the major cities here.

imo, Canada is one of the best countries in the world to live. i'm damn lucky to be here. i complain from a position of sky-high expectations. most people born in this country basically won the lottery the day they were born. me included.

here is some of my positive stuff in this thread.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/general/480705-canadian-politics-mega-thread?page=12#222
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/general/480705-canadian-politics-mega-thread?page=12#225

my life is going pretty good. i have work i find fulfilling and adequate leisure time. this is partly due to my own talent and hard work.

my high quality of life is also due to the amazing economic and social environment in which i was privileged to grow up. This is due to my mom, Hazel McCallion, Mike Harris, Bob Rae, and Jean Chretien. These are all very, very smart people who are as tough as nails and possess a tonne of life wisdom.

the current group running the country, ontario, and missisauga are not any where near the quality of the group i've listed above. as a result, some of my posts in this thread are going to be negative.

i feel like i should start singing the national anthem now.

Interesting prediction about the Canadian dollar.

http://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/economy/canadian-dollar-will-drop-to-59-cents-us-in-2016-macquarie-forecasts/ar-CCuTcE?li=AAggNb9&ocid=mailsignout

1/3 of my customer base is in New York state so I'm all for a lower dollar.

Steve Paikin and his guests on "The Agenda" explained why lowering interests rates won't stimulate the economy the way it did when we had a much younger population base.

http://tvo.org/programs/the-agenda-with-steve-paikin

i'll dig up some stuff about tonight's show and post it here. Tonight's edition of "The Agenda" is excellent.

Seems to me that lowering the interest rate would have a bigger impact when the rates are already high. When they've been super low for so long, how could it possibly have much of an impact. It's like the race to the bottom in car dealerships- offer no down payments for so long that now they are offering ME money to take a car off their lot (but I still keep driving the same old rust bucket that requires so few repairs.)

just to add to the post above...
basically, young people borrow giant sums of cash for a really cool car because they are earning more money than ever in their lives.. or to get their first house... an older population is less sensitive to changes in bank interest rates. there were more details with greater depth during Paikin's show.. i'll add 'em later.

CAD was near the top of the worst performing currencies last year; now at 13 year low
tsx down 20%
one of the most in debt nations
2 quarters of recession
housing bubble (GTA GVR)

economically (which i think was the #1 priority of voters), it is pretty awful

on another note, i wonder how long gender neutral schools will last in alberta if the ndp get voted out.

but its not Justin Trudeau's fault because he wanted it to turn out better. He had the best of intentions... and results don't matter... so quit posting negative stuff. Reality doesn't matter.. all that matters are wishes, hopes, and dreams. The important thing is Justin made a really good speech promising cool stuff and a better tomorrow. I learned this from Justin's last speech: "Today is the tomorrow you dreamed about yesterday".

Trudeau made a pre-flop raise at the international poker table and represented 3 Jacks... he got called down and all he is holding is a pair of 5s. ROFL LOL

It's reasonable we're not at that meeting. We're not committed to fighting them anymore. Why would we be there, or expect to be there?

actually we're half-in and half-out. after the international backlash from pulling out and a couple of high profile terror incidents Our Fearless Leader committed to other combat missions that did not involve bombing. But, knowing this would require reading the source article i posted.

just so people don't think i'm anti-liberal or ragging on left-wingers or whatever...
the liberal leader should've been Bob Rae.
Bob Rae would make a great prime minister and he did a great job as Ontario Premier.

Bob Rae >> Justin Trudeau
Jean Chretien >> Justin Trudeau
Pierre Elliot >> Justin

Sure, there's a training capacity, but that doesn't involve direct combat. We really aren't committed to actually fighting them, just helping a others fight them.

Point still stands.

Also, you are super hostile and sarcastic towards others who post in this thread. It's almost like you don't want anyone other than JimmyJRaynor posting their rants on Canadian society in this thread.....

u responded pretty fast and didn't let me finish my post. we were basically posting at the same time. please see my comment above. i'm not hostile, Justin Trudeau is a bad prime minister. He is just not that smart. I've mentioned this before in a post in a very measured non emotional way.
Would you like the link to that or can u find it urself?

also

"Canada is expected to keep an air-to-air tanker and two reconnaissance aircraft in the region to support missions by other nations"
sounds like Canada is still involved to me.... its at the point of hair-splitting.

by average guy standards is Justin Trudeau an idiot? no he is not. he is of above average intelligence.
However, Bob Rae, P.E.T. and Chretien are/were far, far more intelligent than he is. It ain't even close.

please, link to all the people i've insulted?

there was a giant shit storm about the finances of the Mulroney government where my comments were proven 100% correct with facts and #s and sources. i was repeatedly insulted and never fired back once. All I did was prove I was correct with Deficit, Debt, and Interest Rate #s from 1984 to 1992.

I was asked to come back to this thread and apologize. LOL. No apology was required because my #s were bang on and backed up my comment fully.

I provide facts and sources to back up my perspective. Therefore, it is not a rant.

I mean you can like Bob Rae all you want but he remains the reason the NDP are a third option and why so many people in Ontario (over the age of 40) would vote against whatever party he was running in.

Granted he had a solution and it worked so looking back at it it's not that bad but man he screwed over the NDP and then jumped ship. To be honest though he made a decision and stuck with it knowing the unions wouldn't like it. Pretty good quality for a leader to actually be able to lead which is exactly what I'm failing to see/hear in Trudeau.

Also I've gotta add like half the credit you give to Cretien for his economic work belongs to Paul Martin. Probably more of it really, the two of them did really great work.

The fact that he got elected in Ontario at all is a tribute to the man's genius. A tip of the chapeau to Mr. Rae for that.

back to Justin Trudeau, he may turn out to become an OK prime minister. this country has had many men of great intelligence and savvy as PM the last 50 years so by comparison it just hurts to watch.

it appears as though this entire Syrian refugee commitment by Trudeau was not very well thought out at all. Some refugees must pay for medical exams and airfare.while certain other "special" refugees don't have to pay for that stuff

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/refugee-travel-costs-loans-1.3406735

without waiving these fees one wonders if they could find 25,000 Syrians who want to come here.
