I also feel like weed is negatively effecting my life in other areas such as my motivation, social life, etc. I currently go through about 1/8 every 5 days. I smoke everyday, but never before work because I would never be able to do it properly. On my days off, I usually wake n bake and yeah... you all know how that goes.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to really limit their smoking? How much do you smoke while still doing well in school, holding a job, and just being a productive member of society?
I really think weed has done a lot of good for me and I really don't want to give it up, since I find sativas great for creative work such as music production, I love listening to music high, and it's how I unwind after a stressful day, but I also want to be responsible. I don't want to substitute for any drugs(obviously) or even alcohol. I'm done with all drugs except for weed and I never really liked alcohol. Thanks for any advice. Sorry you have such an issue. Personally, I maintain a full time professional job while smoking everyday. I have no problem in coming home after work and relaxing the same as someone who would have a couple drinks.

just got home and picked up 2g of brown sugar haze. Never tried this kind of haze before. Mostly just smoke amnesia anyways, not too expensive, nothing special, still good high.

People say that it doesn't work well/is a waste... but I find if you overload the coals a bit at the start to really heat the weed up properly it really gets me well stoned.
Just spent a good two hours on my iPad watching random crap while smoking in the back yard, really peaceful and enjoyable, and I know I'll be high for another hour or so at least.
Anyway, off to enjoy some milkdrop :D
I have never really experienced it well enough to give a conclusive answer, but from what I have heard it is indeed a "waste" of weed. The term "waste" here is to be used quite lightly though. I feel it's a waste in the sense of pure THC intake, but as long as you enjoy it much more than a regular joint it is certainly not a waste. Though you've got me thinking and I might try it out more in depth, would you have some advices to give in order to not lose too much THC intake? I can understand how smoking out of a shisha would be great, personally I love them and used to smoke them on a weekly basis (don't leave next to my Shisha pals anymore though) so I can see how combining both activities can be awesome

I suppose this isn't much of a question but I still wonder how we react differently to withdrawal. Perhaps my daily intake isn't as elevated as those who have serious issues with stopping, or perhaps there is a psychological factor to be taken into account, several times throughout the year I had quite heavy smoking weeks then would go cold turkey for a week. Yea I find it fascinating, I smoked for 2-3 years everyday, stopped 5-6 months ago, first 2-3 days was the worst of it, hardly anything really, just thoughts about wanting to smoke at night before sleeping, then after 1-2 weeks it was out of sight out of mind, I should be starting up again soon though, but not everyday, more like 3-4 sessions a week. I do believe some people just end up getting more psychologically connected to it and have a harder time letting go, but I also think lifestyle has a lot to do with it, being healthy and active everyday(possibly biking/running/swimming/gym/ect..).
I suppose it really depends on the person. I do believe that the psychological addiction is much greater than the physical addiction, but then again the mind controls the body quite heavily and if you are in a withdrawal state of mind I wouldn't be surprised if you felt physical withdrawal symptoms aswell. And since our minds are so completely differrent from one person to another (as opposed to the average physical difference between people) it doesn't baffle me that there are so many different reactions to stopping smoking.

There are no physically addictive properties of weed. People who can't quit weed just don't care enough. Oh god, PLEASE disregard this poster's comment. I feel frustrated when I see fellow smokers spread horrendous misinformation. There ARE physically addictive properties of weed, I think I remember posting this link on TL not long ago because another poster was spreading the same misinformation: Show nested quote +WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS (after stopping heavy use) mild to moderate, non-life-threatening withdrawal symptoms occur after daily use in some users. Withdrawal symptoms normally last 2-4 days, up to six weeks with long term use. Severity of symptoms is related to frequency and duration of use and individual sensitivity. anhedonia (reduced experience of pleasure) headaches, general unease/discomfort difficulty sleeping desire to smoke cannabis slight loss of appetite finding non-stoned life a bit dull, increased boredom fatigue, lethargy slow thinking, talking stoned-like abstract thinking, impatience with or annoyance at linear thinking http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_effects.shtmlEven by logic, if something (weed) causes dopamine release and produces so much euphoria, there are BOUND to be physical withdrawal effects. I just posted like 4 posts above you about how I'm suffering from mild withdrawals, having quite a few of the symptoms listed after smoking heavily daily for the last 2 month. @ Hellburn, 3 possible explanations for the lack of withdrawal symptoms in a minority of people. 1. Your individual sensitivity/tolerance enable you to be unaffected or very mildly affected by the sudden stoppage of THC and other cannabinoids intake. In other words, your cannabinoid, serotonin, dopamine and other "feel-good" chemical receptors probably are more efficient at recovering than normal. 2. Most people don't get withdrawals from light to moderate smoking, for shorter periods of time. 3. The weed quality is shit, leading to #2 where not enough weed is smoked to cause withdrawals. For you it could be 1, 2 or 3. How large are your joints? Do you share them with others? "2 joints per day" is pretty ambiguous, it could either fall into light smoking or very heavy smoking depending on the circumstances. Just for comparison purposes, it takes constant (usually no more than 30 minutes between each bong hit if at home) smoking everyday, being high at every waking moment, for about 2 months, for me to get noticeable withdrawals. Edited typo
Hmmm I'd like to give my 2cents if I may. As stated above, I believe that the withdrawal symptoms you have listed are mainly due to psychogical addiction rather than physical addiction. For example the brain adapts to the pain reducing reaction from the drug and its analgesic effects like inducing sleep. It is therefore only normal that when off said drug you would start to feel the discomfort of things that didn't bother you when high (may it be back problems, headaches, itchy clothes or even an irritating buzzing noise you wouldn't notice/care about when high). The "loss of appetite" can also be explained quite simply. It is a known fact that marijuana is given to cancer patients in order to give them back their appetite. If weed = liking food more, it's only natural that no weed = a reduced liking of food. "Desire to smoke cannabis" is also I believe a psychological withdrawal effect as we can observe the same reactions in people trying to stop smoking, it's why they've invented 'fake' electronic cigarettes because people have built up a habit of having something in their fingers and smoking something (I've even had a friend who had an electronic cigarette that would actually allow you to blow smoke (no tobacco of course) just to show you to what extent habits can have an effect on your mind). I do however agree that a certain physical dependence can be obtained through dopamine (an addictive substance). But then again chocolat makes you produce dopamine in the exact same way and is in fact as physically addictive as cannabis on that regard (don't quote me on that but I'm pretty sure the difference isn't mind-blowing). In fact, I kid you not, people who are used to a daily jog actually feel the same physical withdrawal symptoms as cannabis users when quitting as long tiresome activities create a great amount of dopamine in the body.
Anyway, I believe the simple fact that we are having a debate on the matter is proof itself that cannabis does not produce a high physical dependence as we wouldn't even ask ourselves the question if it was about tobacco or cocaine for example.
Concerning your response to my post: Agreed, "2joints per day" isn't very precise, but to make it more simple I would basicly be high from the moment I got home to when I went to sleep. The only time I was constantly high 24/7 was actually just when I started smoking cannabis. We probably smoked well over 200joints in 18days yet don't remember having any noticeable withdrawal symptoms (It was a while ago, but if I can't remember any specific reaction to quitting cold turkey after being constantly high for 3weeks pretty much speaks for itself).

My best advice is to treat it as you would treat a diet. Fix yourselves certain rules, find a motivation, people that can help you along the way. I think you shouldn't be afraid of perhaps having your weak moments, believe that if you fix rules that are way too restrictive then it might backfire completly. Stay strong man =) I'm currently trying to more or less do the same things (purely for academic reasons though). And as SmoKim said, it is extremely rewarding (and I feel the high is much more powerful) after having quite just a couple of days (time it takes for alot of the chemicals to flush out of your system).

Went through roughly the same when I cut back on cannabis several times during the last years. Took me about a week, maybe two to get over it.
Always ended up going back though and finally found some decent way to integrate cannabis into my life. I have a very simple rule: I'm not allowed to smoke until I have done all I needed to do that day. Only smoke after I come home from work and the house has to be relatively clean, dishes have to be done and any other chores that needed doing. Usually this means I don't light up until 9pm or something. Then I just watch some starcraft or listen to music, before I go to bed. This rhythm seems to work out fairly well and I've sustained it for quite some time now. Before this I would often smoke whenever I had a few hours to kill, but that obviously doesn't make you very productive. Now I just bake when there is nothing productive to do anyway, plus I can still keep using it to aid my sleep

I definitely wouldn't try to get on those anxiety pills if I was you. It's just the withdrawal that is making you feel this bad. You have developed an addiction (I am addicted to it too) to THC. Quitting is going to make you feel like shit. It's up to you if you want to make that decision, personally weed does not interfere with my professional life at all so I have no problem continuing to smoke as much as I want.
If you want some advice on how to get things done while continuing to smoke a lot I'd suggest creating a "To Do" list every day, and sticking to it. Even if you're high, do the stuff on that list.

Thanks for all the replies! Didn't expect such a great response. I'm not really sure weed is the cause of these problems, but I'm going start smoking only the weekends for a while just to see what happens. I don't have a lot of friends who smoke anymore, which I good. I could go some right now, but I'm not going to. So far, I've just been massing gaming. Seems to be keeping my mind off things. Just hope I can sleep tonight. I didn't fall asleep till 10am today. I gotta work 11:30-9 tomorrow. I got a melatonin and another sleep aid.

My doctor recommended some melatonin for me and it works wonders. If you can find slow release tablets it will make a big difference. Also make sure you are not on the computer at least an hour or two before going to bed, your mind treats the screen like sunlight and it completely negate the effects.

Despite all of that, I don't feel a strong urge to get high. The first 2 days were also extremely difficult for me, but it's gotten way better. This is encouraging.
So that brings me to some advice I'm looking for. I'm about to go back to school and finish my undergrad and I don't want weed to get in they way. I still want to be able to smoke though. There will be strict guidelines of how much I can smoke per day, but I'm afraid I will fall right back into smoking everyday, considering it didn't take me long to start toking everyday after I first started smoking.
Never had any problem with smoking and uni/work. I sometimes dont smoke for a week or it doesnt give me any trouble tbh..... i think amnesia is amazing. people recognize it by its smell. i never had that with any other strain. plus it's strong and sticky =)
i smoked amnesia before i knew that it had spread all over holland already and immediately knew it would be a legend!

You took 1.5 ladders or 1.5 footballs/circles? If you took 1.5 ladders your first time I'd expect you to get completely knocked on your ass. And I have to agree they're dangerous. I don't get them very often because when I do I feel I can't control my consumption.
