considering the sheer amount of pro players and the percentage of homosexuals out there, i'm convinced there are numerous gay progamers. i agree it is unfortunate that they feel the need to hide their sexuality, although i think that some might not even try to hide it, it's just a topic that is so far removed from e-sports that it just isn't talked about and so we don't know. even if a gay person doesn't hide their sexuality, they may not feel the need to tell everyone that they're gay, and why should they? i don't feel the need to tell others i'm straight.
in terms of racism, you're right about black people, of course. but we obviously have a lot of asian players and i honestly cannot remember a single racist comment about any asian player, or even towards a white player from someone who is not white. i also don't remember any racism targeted towards middle-easterners (ethnically) like Haypro. that's pretty awesome in my opinion.

How about because sexual orientation has got nothing to do with Starcraft? What makes a progamer think that Starcraft fans are interested in whether he is gay or not? If I suffer from a prolapsed rectum (not saying being gay is a disease btw), is there a need to announce it in a proleague interview?

I just wanted to post to say that I'm really proud that TL is willing to step forward (and potentially take criticism) for such a vital social issue.
The gaming community is particularly polarized in this, I think. While there are lots of gamers who are pro-equality, it's also 'accepted' to make fun of people or insult your opponents (or even your friends) through whatever avenues comes to mind - a facet of our gamer culture that I would be more than glad if it disappeared entirely as it encourages all sorts of bigoted behavior.

Keep on being awesome TL I'm glad our community can openly support its LGBT members. As a non LGBT member this has no real effects on me but im glad we as a community can have these inclusive movements. Also one of, if not my favourite player is Scarlett so to see a step towards equality for women like her is excellent.

Despite agreeing with TL on most things due to my own progressive leanings, I do agree that it's wrong to just shut out any opinion just because you disagree with it. If someone disagrees with gay marriage or transexuality, that's their deal, and they're free to think so as long as they're not a dick about it. It goes both ways, people saying that we should hang the gays and people saying we should burn down churches because they disagree with gay marriage are, to me, in the same boat.
But that's neither here nor there and has no real relevancy in this thread because it's simply not happening. They're not "shoving their agenda" down your throat by showing their support for one side of the debate, just like gay people aren't trying to make you gay by being in the general vicinity of you. If they were to, say, make a forum dedicated to gay rights that took precedence over eSports and banned any dissension then you'd have a point, but right now it's just a fucking rainbow horse that you don't even have to acknowledge.
I hate the hypocrisy in the progressive movement just like I hate people like Big-t who give them a reason to be hypocritical.
In any other thread he would've just been banned as soon he started spouting homophobic circular rhetoric but now it's just become a circlejerk beating up an unrealistically extremist and stupid example of the other side of the debate.
