This was an act of terror by two disillusioned religious followers. The next few days will be interesting to see some reactions, none more so than the almost certain marches of the English defense league who shall be making a lot of noise.

But I guess there's a distinction between terrorism and terror these days, right? The whole "War on Terror" thing has made this stuff really confusing. Establishing motive at this juncture is practically impossible, as we simply do not know enough about the perpetrators. Given that this looks to be isolated, uncoordinated, and nominally ineffective, the potential for political motivation seems rather less than the alternative, that being the simple desire to commit violent and heinous acts in the public space.

Thats the sort of incident that AQ has been encouraging people to do rather than organised terror attacks as it is much easier to succeed.

Giving them all this face time and discussing their motives is doing what they want and is only going to motivate more extremists (regardless of what they are actually extreme for). People will see that these people killed someone and as a result got to have their say. Got to put the message that they wanted to hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of people.

That may be, and yet we still need to know more about the perpetrators before we can truly label this an act of terrorism.

People die all the time, what do you want him to say? It's a glib comment, but the implication is a valid critique on media coverage and personal perspective.

Gruesome as this is, at least these people didn't target civilians in the area.

edit: this shit happens every day every where I don't understand why this is receiving so much coverage. People are killed everyday. Yeah it sucks and it sucks even more that it was a soldier but why the publicity?

Because it is impossible for crazies to yell whatever the fuck they want after they've spilt blood? Get back to your Anti-Islamic neckbrace Deb, you're craning a bit too much.

People don't usually die from getting dismembered in the middle of London by someone who is also shouting a phrase often used by Islamic extremists. It's not a national state of emergency, but neither is it trivial.

Too hard to fix a problem like this one though, the two men clearly have strong accents showing that they are not from elsewhere even though they refer to the countries leaders as "yours" and not ours. Funny how all of them are misunderstanders of islam. You would think that sooner or later people gonna wake up and think how can it be that there are so many misunderstanders within that specific relgion.

"People die all the time". So now murder should be treated like a regular death? The implication is that soldiers are equal to murderers. That's valid to you? And aside from all of that, being right doesn't make you any less insensitive. If your parents got killed, it would be insensitive to tell you that they deserved it, even if they did. So "What we want him ti say" is that it's sad, and if he feels anything else, he can keep that to himself. Seriously...

Having a political motive? Being of a certain race/religion? Is general frustration and wanting to go out with your finger up to the world the same as doing it with the intention of scaring everyone into your way of thinking?
