1. You are paying for 95% of all expenses! - In the modern world today, woman are fighting for equal rights and quality of treatment but this is one thing they are very fine with being not equal. You pay, and they crave. If your outings together consists of you spending most of everything and she hardly volunteers on paying anything, pull out of it early unless you happen to be closely related to Mr. Gates. A good male to female paying ratio is anywhere between 60:40 as a minimum to serve your lady to a maximum healthy limit of 80:20. If it exceeds this she's not serious about this relationship. She can spend on many things but not even 20% split on your outings - TIME TO BOOT HER.
2. She hesitates to buy something she obviously wanted when she realizes you are not able to pay for it there and then! - Talk about being ridiculous, this is one of those that tops the list. She wanted to buy something she likes. You saw how much she liked it and as a loving guy, you said, "Honey just go buy it I'll pay for it!" She leaps with joy and treasures you that split second for doing that. Then you realized you haven't the cold, hard cash with you there and then OR you haven't the cards with you. You tell her, "Hey I'll pay you back later when we past that ATM after this." All of a sudden, she lost her interest in buying. She says "It's ok, I don't really want to buy it." You start to ask what happen? She continues in that lame excuse that she really isn't interested to buy that anymore. The cold truth is, she's needs you to pay up first to spare her the worry that you forgot to "pay" her back seeing that it isn't nice to ask about it even if you forget. Make a guess her worth of your time?
3. Often hesitating to buy anything until you volunteer to pay for it. - As bad as the last case, she will shop around and walk around and looking carefully at a few pieces of apparels and goods she likes and she seems to be taking a very long time to choose but in essence, she's merely waiting for you to realize the need to volunteer to pay for it upon catching a glimpse of her hesitation. There isn't much to say about this as it pretty much speaks for itself. Certainly, once or twice a blue moon is surely fine. But if many of these signs are happening way too frequently, I hope you won't be an idiot and stubbornly believe she don't mean it.
4. Her number 1 priority = Shopping, all the time. - Shopping is not really an evil activity until it starts to affect your relationship in a significant way. You both are busy and working. You meet up once or twice a week and everytime you meet. Shopping seems to be the primary modus operandi. Whether there was a quarrel before that or there are things to be talked about, she seems to slip into the shopping mode once she sees you. Oblivious of any other weighty issues at hand. Because buying and purchasing is her number 1 priority. You can't really change her because she probably build this value since young and it'll be hard to change. Your choice is to live with it or get a life of your own!
5. Usually an idiot in the financial sense - As a general observation, a material girl usually has lesse concept of money than one that is not so material. There can be many reasons to this but primarily, it can be attributed to the fact that material possessions are so important to them, they are willing to forego that high additional cost for that low marginal benefit, thus making them totally unable to think strongly in the economic sense of situations. You can also expect these girls to have little or almost no savings, and even if they do, they are constantly using it up once every few months. They will only taper down that kind of behaviour when they are absolutely broke. And when they have a little savings, there they go again. Live with that? No way guys.
6. Look out for starting symptoms - During the first few dates, one should imagine these signs should not be conspicuous but look carefully and you will still find there are manifestations of that behaviour. Could it be a slight quietness over the date once she had to pay for one particular dinner? Or accusing you of not being a gentlemen when she had to pay for a thing or 2 once every 3 or 4 dates? Or maybe when she had to go to the counter and pay for a pair of shoes she really wanted but you did not volunteer your wallet she becomes extremely quiet for the remaining of the outing? These are all suttle signs although they can be non-conclusive but you will start looking out for that facet soon.
7. "Oh please help me take this one." - After a while, she uses this method to get you to pay, non-voluntarily! How does it work? Simple, she has chosen her apparel and ask you to help her hold that... Slowly and but surely, you realize there will be some reason why you are holding it and queuing up on the cashier line while she is still looking around at the store. Again, once or twice a blue moon it's fine. Don't stay an idiot and buy this excuse again and again.
8. The NON-Scientific comparison - Very often, when you talk to her about her spending habits and materialism, she will compare you with her friend's boyfriends or even a passerby who seemed sweet to her girl. You think to yourself, oh man, am I really such a cheapskate and make life difficult for my beloved girl seeing that now she's out-comparing you to other guys. Oh but wait, you have been paying for that weekly movies amounting to US$20/- and that transport US$50/- everywhere you go. Above and beyond that, Almost monthly, you spend an extra US100/- odd on her apparels, shoes and you aren't even able to save much yourself. During anniversaries and important days, you never fail to get her desired gifts that costs a few hundred bucks. Perhaps she even know your financial difficulties but she continues to take this matter in an almost comical pace (since she herself has no concept of money). You get upset because all she's comparing is a load of rubbish and the moral of the story is simply she isn't contented with you. With your level of financial committment to her! There is only one way this girl can survive on earth - Get a rich husband. She can never behave like a human being or make sane comparisons in a life without a certain level of material.
9. She accepts expensive gifts from other guys - Need any explanation on this? Yes, we all know there isn't a need to explain this. But you will be amazed sometimes she will act like she didn't think there is anything wrong at all about this. Another guy at her workplace buys her a diamond ring worth US$2000/- and says it's just a token of "friendship" and "appreciation" for her birthday. She forces herself to believe it's nothing special and it's purely plutonic and accepts the gift and keeps it, maybe sometimes even from your knowledge. Why? Because this is what she is, a M-A-T-E-R-I-A-L G-I-R-L.
10. When she isn't with you - This is the best time to tell more about her. At least when she's with you, she had not much of a choice but to exercise some control over spending but once you aren't with her. Well, it's all back to square one. All the things you don't wish to see her do or spend, it's all done. She will still give excuses she needs this, she needs that. But basically, this is what she has always wanted to have and do. Need? What is a need in the human world. For me it's just 3 things - Food, shelter, and relationships. For a Material girl, her needs transcends traditional definitions by 10 octaves to an extend many of us will only call their needs a luxury. But still, days and months of arguing or debating will not change her mind on what is a luxury and what is a need.
These are the 10 signs that points us to a material girl. Yes one or two manifestations of these symptoms don't necessary mean she's materialistic but when you see more and more of these signs appearing and you refuse to believe it for what it is - We can only hope your relationship will still be blessed. It's a sad thing in life when rotteness fills the veins and hearts and intents and there are people who refuse to see it and give it a standing ovation. Wake up to reality.

Why did you post this - from personal experience?
Too many guys are insecure about their own personality and therefore feel they have to show their caring through material goods. Girls catch on that they can get free stuff, so why shouldn't they abuse it to the max? It's the "+ev" thing to do. Therefore, you should make it clear from the get-go that you are not interested in that kind of relationship. There are girls out there who think "splitting" the first date is a "deal-breaker". Fuck those women, and simply search harder instead of allowing yourself to slip into a relationship that will ultimately be a wallet-breaker.

Bear in mind the title is "10 signs of a material girl". Not "10 signs all girls are material". There's no attempt to vomit any bitter pill on bad experiences. But it's true. i keep the 60:40 ratio, its pretty healthy, for example, i pay the tickets if we go to the movies but often ill ask for some popcorn and she usually buys them.
If we have a quick meal ill often pay it, sometimes we split, but buying shoes and stuff when its not her birthday or something is just fucked up, its your gf not your wife!
First of all, who in the hell goes with their gfs shopping? how gay is that, and even if somehow she convinced you your job as a boyfriend is to bitch and constantly ask "can we go to the fast food section now?" ever 5 minutes... paying for shoes? WTF?!?!

i.e. I have a friend who loves spending on his girlfriend. He thinks it's noble. He also goes shopping with her.
on the other hand, I also have a friend who would not spend a DIME on a chick.
Both get the same amount of bedroom time.
You will find the type of girl you're comfortable with... eventually... and that's all that matters. Not all women are the same and THANK GOD FOR THAT. Nothing wrong with being a "material girl" as long as you're goin gout with a "material boy".

I dated one girl for a little bit and one day at like 11 AM I am going home and we are walking and we go into this store. She's looking around while I'm on the phone. She picked out two outfits and put them on the sales counter. I was on the phone and she's like "DAN COME HERE!" I suddenly read her and I just FELT she wanted me to pay for her shit. Sure I'll buy a girl some stuff but it will be my gift to her, not something she's telling me to do. Anyways I ignored her and she just stood there then signaled me over. She was like "HEY DAN O MANWON" ($50 equivalent) and I was like what the hell?
She then fluttered her eyes and was like "HEY!!! O MANWON !!!" And I was like "WTF??? You want me to pay for your shit right now? You pay for it yourself." She then gave me a snotty look and grabbed the clothes and threw them on the ground. Then I called her a money hungry bitch and walked out. That was the end of her.
I guess it's like that all over the world. You can find plenty of nice normal girls, but also some crazy stuck-up ones. But in general, Korean girls are far less egotistical and stuck-up than American girls. Plus in Korea they are all thin and don't think they are the shit because of it. You have no idea how many girls I have seen in the USA since I've been back, strutting around with a shirt that doesn't quite reach their pants and they have a big gut sticking out yet they still strut their shit like they are the shit. It's so irritating haha.
