1. There are endless ways to listen to the album without buying it. 2. Only 1 other song on the album is remotely close to 'Get Lucky' 3. I hated 'Barry Bonds', but still loved the rest of Kanye's album. Great example, my man.

Daft Punk did something few artists can: create music that is equally good as background music as it is for attentive listening.

Just for the record, the album is 10$, not 25$ - your uninformed passive aggressiveness is a blast though.
Get lucky is an incredibly well-produced track. It might not appeal to you, but to say that it is garbage is silly.

The quality of the music is outstanding though. You might not like it, which is completely fine and reasonable, but that does not equate bad quality.

I particularly love "Touch" and "Instant Crush" (love as in "I can play these songs on repeat and not get bored for hours at an end"). Touch has a very nice musical/OST feeling to it and "instant crush" is just a very typical daft punk song. "Get Lucky" is pretty much the most straightforward song on the whole album, together with "Fragments of Time" and I find both of them a bit boring.
If I had to describe this album in a single word, it'd be "relax". For me, this is the kind of music I relax to after a day's work or school - which is actually what I'm doing now. Some songs wouldn't be out of place on a meditation CD (e.g. "motherboard"). It's still Daft Punk through and through, just a lot more mature, a lot less in-your-face and more varied.
Edit: "contact" is pretty good as well, and could be a song written by 65daysofstatic. Very similar in style.
|
I didn't really like 'touch' at all, and 'instant crush' overall is good but i really don't like the intro of it... just sounds terrible. This album is not for me. Thank you for helping me out. Those who do like it, plz enjoy and f**k off.

Touch and Get Lucky are my favorites...
|
Am I the only one who found it really watered down and poppy? Or did they always do it like this and I only happend to listen to their less know songs? (Da Funk, Television, Derezzed, Technelogic ect.)
|
I personally love all the songs on the album. Fragments of time is one of my favorites on the album. I don't really get it why a lot of people don't like that song .

Nope. I'm listening to Discovery right now and RAM has more depth/complexity. It's just hidden behind a layer of singing sadly enough :/

I guess a lot of people aren't used to daft punk songs with human singing in it. Coexist with the robots dude!

It's just hidden behind a layer of singing sadly enough :/ Discovery was both a much more complex and a much more innovative album than RAM is. There's some great songs on RAM and its much more polished than discovery was, but discovery was a cohesive album, with a new sound. RAM lacks direction and is more of a collection than an album.
Some of the tracks where they manage to actually create a partially new sound (lose yourself, get lucky, instant crush, giorgio), but others are either pretty much copies of what others are doing already. There's plenty of tracks like Beyond, Motherboard, Doin' It Right made by other bands, and as awesome as contact is its a track that fits better on discovery or even human after all than it does on this album (apparantly they made it in 2001-2002 anyhow).
I think they went overboard with the whole 'wanting to change dance music' thing, they already stood miles apart from what everyone else was doing. Sure, there's no denying that their alive 2007 tour had a major impact on dance and liveshows, and that everyone is trying to copy that style, but their albums were never like that in the first place. All in all, I'm kind of disappointed with the album now, there's some tracks that I love but I can't say I love the album anymore.

In your opinion. I completely disagree. I think RAM is more cohesive, with a twist/combination of old sounds. RAM tells a fascinating story, from start to finish.
