yeah smrpg is definitely one of the better RPGs for speedrunning. kinda stinks that he's using the english version for AGDQ though. text scrolling so much faster on the japanese version =(

Yeah but a lot of the first timers who have never played can get a good feeling for the story here, and maybe catch some of the jokes.

One of those tradeoffs in many rpg's, jp version tends to be substantially faster, but english in many cases can drum up more donations because it hooks back into people's childhood memories more easily.

Depends on the game to be honest I know in FF9 the text difference is only around 2 minutes between JP and English since text skipping is so easy. Also there is only around 3 text boxes worth of differences between JP and English Kingdom Hearts: Chain of memories because you skip everything so its not always a major factor.

Edit: Most of Tomato rice's advantage in FF9 is through his use of a turbo controller since it isn't banned in the JP community if people were wondering where the difference came from.

Amazing runs but I am spent. Interesting runs later today though with two SM games and Amnesia! I think I am actually anticipating the Dark Souls run most though seeing as how it is kicking my ass at the moment.

So sad I can't be around for the Super GnG run, fuckin love that game, going to have to catch the VoD. Whole event is stacked this year, can't believe how much better(and how much more attention) it is getting year to year now.

It should be showing the time since the event started (about 15hours at the time of this post). If you have a weird browser or very strange browser plugins that may be screwing it up.
