It has to be one of the most cancerous chats I've seen on twitch. But I won't disagree that it's funny to witness.

Hopefully they will manage to attract enough *new* viewers who are willing to keep donating. It would be pretty disappointing and sad if the donations stop after the first few days and the hype dies out.
Really nice stream so far though. Would donate if not poor. TL Yoshi segment was boss. Hwaiting ~

This event is so damn addicting to watch. Don't generally like RPG speedruns, but SMRPG is an obvious exception (my namesake!), so this has been really awesome.
Carl Sagan's Yoshi run has been my favorite so far though, never watched a speed run of it before and was quite impressed.

It's amazing how much money they've raised. Way back before twitch was a thing, when they were doing this out of Mike's basement for Classic Games Done Quick, they set the first goal to 5000 dollars if I recall correctly. At the time, they were saying how it was a very unreasonable goal and that they would be happy if they reached half that.
Now they're well on their way to 20 times that first goal. I can't understate enough how huge speedrunning has gotten in 3 short years, thanks to the rise of streaming and twitch.tv. I guess we can thank Starcraft 2 for sort of dragging the rest of gaming along with it when it exploded onto the scene and really popularized the idea of watching video games, because it's doing a lot of good right now.

I feel so bad for these kids. From a full crowd watching smrpg, to literally zero people watching them.

Yeah, well, graveyard has to start at some point, I'm surprised SMRPG had as big a crowd as it did. Most people checked out of Tony Hawk when after THPS3, so I don't really blame them for leaving.
This game seems okay though.

this run is actually really entertaining

Yeah I stuck around till the first THUG which was god awful, never seen this one before.

Trying like hell to stay awake for the next few games. SGnG and Battletoads + Double Dragon are both going to be great watches (the latter almost guaranteed to completely break the game at least once), and PJs commentary style is hilarious.

Make sure you guys don't miss Breakdown's run of Super Meat Boy later today! Guy is an absolute machine at that game.

Dont go to speeddemosarchive for world record as usually they arent, check speedrunslive.

This is awesome. Starting from concept to the end goal of raising money for cancer. Love what you're guys doing and wish you all the luck.

SRL does not have any information about records as far as I know, it's a racing site. Any fastest times it shows are only for the races that it's hosted.

Oh yeah, that's true... SDA has some records but not all as people really just cannot be arsed to submit to SDA. For Zelda games you can watch http://zeldaspeedruns.com/
Would be nice during the run they told who has the WR and what time it is.

I'll go to sleep at 8 pm for mah boy Breakdown. And the whole night (for us europeans) is really insane, so many good games ! Binding of Isaac is so random it can be good, Amnesia is soooo broken, if you haven't seen a speedrun yet, go for it. And L4D with Flicky, can't be not watched. :p

NOooooooooo T_T I miss the good games this night

SDA is pretty awesome, and SRL is really entertaining when some good racers are in it, but unless I'm missing an angle they seem to have really poor universal record keeping, so-to-speak.
Everything zelda can be found on that site, Mario 64 I know from Sig's twitch page but I'm pretty sure there is a Japanese site as well. Many other games have more-or-less accurate records on SDA, but you can't really tell for sure.
I feel like the scene would benefit immensely from a good centralized wiki that can be as detailed as any particular game deserves and is always up to date. Terminology (game specific or for the whole scene), runner profiles, and other cursory info would fit pretty easily too. Just seems like it would make the whole scene a lot more accessible for those that are just finding it all out from a stream or marathon like this.

The thing is SDA isnt for records mostly. It takes months to get your run submitted, it needs to be reviewed very much and even if its quick, perhaps a WR, if its sloppy done and you do mistakes they wont accept you.

There have been heavy discussion on both sites in regards to creating a well kept leader board and a speed runner "ID" type thing. (Also the JP site is called Nicovideos but its pretty horrible if you want to navigating it)
Don't really expect anything happening until after AGDQ though.
