Glad he's bringing up infrastructure repair, and updating. Needs way bigger money into it imo, our infrastructure is so behind the time.

Maybe it is just me but did just hint at a national public owned WiFi system. If so then it is about fucking time.

This must be horrific for boehner, sitting there all evening watching obama steal the show.
He is not looking to happy either.

Are boehner and biden going to say annything tonight or are they just sitting there all evening?

Public owned wifi, not sure what they mean with that but you might be in for a disapointment.
Telecom companys here want people to make the wifi people have in their houses available for the network, so that the companys can offer wifi all around the country without having to place costly new antennas everywhere.
The public owned wifi is basicly just normal wifi supported by wifi,s from everyones house so that is available nearly everywhere at low cost.
Maybe obama meant something different but to me it looked like he was pointing at such a system.

They just sit there. Just one of those tradition things.

Boehner was the one who reportedly told Biden to fuck off during recent negotiations, right?

Edit: Nvm, he told that to Harry Reid. Aww, would've been so much better if they were sitting so close.

They sit there as that is what they are supposed to do. But it is very telling Boehner has barely applauded for anything so he is either a) Dreading the obvious response of the Tea Party or b) Doesn't care anymore and doesn't want to fight the obvious uphill battle of forcing the conservatives in his caucus to do anything.

Education section of Obama's SotU:
1. Pre-schools and early education are vital
2. STEM fields ftw
3. Colleges need to be affordable
Well done. But how much can he do about these?

Exactly what you would expect... social liberal Democrat president listing his social liberal wish list.

I chuckled when Obama just took credit for the lowest levels of illegal immigration in 40 years. Finally he is blaming himself rather than Bush or Republicans for the awful economy even Mexicans do their best to avoid .

Like I said, Boehner didn't even clap when Obama reported that the state of the union was stronger. Everyone clapped but Boehner. It was odd enough that a few of my friends pointed it out as well.

Joe biden is creeping me the fuck out wth those solid black squinting eyes.

My sister made a photo of john there next to grumpy cat it was funny.

Infrastructer has always been a problem for america based on the sheer size of the country. Just look how hard it was to spread electrisity railroads and the current internet problems. He would need aother massive project for something like that.

That was surprising, the suggestion to raise the minimum wage. Ooooo, and tying it to "cost of living."

$9 hour minimum wage, the Tea Party will kill than on sight if Mconnell doesn't filibuster it. Too bad it is not an executive action possibility.

Another good one is the, "We need to help Yemen, Libya, etc, provide for their own defense" contradiction. We're going to be funding their armed forces but they are providing their own defense? If I bought Person A a car, is Person A providing their own transportation? lol

Infrastructure in the usa is a problem, because the free market does not provide it.
The budget for government on all levels in the usa is low. And infrastructure has a low priority on the agenda (because every elected politician spends all spare budget monney on keeping his friends who helped his election happy) so the local authoritys are not providing it either.
Thats why you can drive around in beverly hills on terrible roads with huge holes while looking at 100m$ houses.
The seize of the country is not an argument in this situation. It can explain a lack of quantity but it can imo not be an excuse for a lack of quality.
Maybe it would be better if construction companys started to spend more monney on lobbying.

With rising global prices on fuel, nobody is willing to increase taxes on it. Nobody wants to be the "cause" for over $5.00/gal gas.

You hit the nail on the head. Everyone wants better roads but no one wants to pay for it.

Edit: I drive my car a bunch and I'd totally support a higher gas tax... fwiw (which is zero).

It also doesn't help that all politicians at all levels would rather build new stuff than maintain what we already have. Maintenance doesn't buy votes, new construction does.
