This is a tragic event. Let's not derail the thread with a gun control debate. Posts from page 9 onward will be moderated for steering the discussion towards gun control. |

As far as we know until a few weeks ago this was a very successful person who had a honorable degree and was in med school, then suddenly dropped out and went on a shooting rampage. I am NOT trying to defend his actions but it is pretty apparent that he had some sort of mental break that pushed him into this. I truly hope that no more people die from this, and hopefully people can recover mentally from this. It's always the nice, smart, polite and quiet kid that truly is lonely and depressed but none can see it

Could also be some automated web script that sends the tweet whenever the keyword is trending. It seems hard to believe That a person actually sent that.

Loneliness and depression have nothing to do with mass murder.

Yes. Are you? I think you have your mental illnesses mixed up a little bit, you should look into it a bit more before posting.

is there any psychology major in here? i want to know why a successful surburban kid who never did a crime before would do something like this?

What a piece of shit. Also, watch every movie theater in the country get metal detectors now...

Westboro baptist church is saying that they are going to protest the funerals of those that died in Aurora...
I've never been able to stand these people, but i've always acknowledged their legal rights, but this is just ridiculous. Innocent people were shot for enjoying a form of media. There can be no justification for their protests here.

Loneliness and depression can cause suicide, why not mass murder? Clearly it can cause a mental break which results in something as tragic as mass murder.

You do realize that suicide and mass murder are, like, exactly the opposite of each other, right? Also, you do realize that the guy did not kill himself, right?

Something to do with the people deserved to die because they were worshiping something false or against god. WBC are scum but many many times local biker gangs have rallied to block them from getting anywhere near vigils and funerals like this. Good people will stop them, just sad that they would jump on this so fast.

You don't really have to be a psychologist to derive some conclusions... Most people who are intelligent can simply break (my friend who majored in Computer Science believed we were all in the "matrix" and legitimately testified in court about (in a civil case revolving around his family) how we were all simulations)
Most likely he saw all of the extremely disgusting aspects of society and how we as a people are, he couldn't handle it anymore, broke and in his mind thought the only solution was killing people. Obviously this was the wrong choice, but what your mind decides and what is right can be two completely different things (battery acid being thrown on the girls face because she was learning to read in the Middle East a year or so ago, guy believed it was right to do that to his daughter but it we can conclude that obviously it wasn't)
Anywho, all fucked up nonetheless, 7 billion people on earth, a few are going to snap.

Kind of what I was talking about ^, they believe it's right but it really isn't. Issue is how do we define "right and wrong". Sam Harris has a nice debate on that actually.
