I mean I can't go barhopping. And that's pretty prevalent on new years eve. Note: Talking about possibilities here: I don't drink ![]()

On January 01 2006 09:45 {ToT}Strafe wrote: lol ironmentality. you dont like cloggers to be in your house? you are one nasty man! denying all the good from holland because american stuff is better ! I'm sure there are foreign components in lots of stuff in the house. The only thing I know of that's foreign is our IQAir air purifier system, some Stolchnayia (sp) Russian Vodka, and my Jaeger. =D I know Bosch, a German company, is world-renowned for there car safety and car accessories, I'm sure lots of there patented equipment is in lots of vehicles here in the USA. Nah, I don't deny the good from anywhere. I just follow a certain system. I try to buy as much from American companies as possible because I see it benefiting me more in the end. I do benefit more if I pick up a Hewlett-Packard Officejet instead of a Canon or imported product, because the tax revenue not only from my purchase (sales tax) goes to the federal and state treasury, but HP will pay taxes to Washington as well. I use a Dell laptop, carry around an iPod, drive an American car, etc. Even if the products themselves (although I'd prefer them to be), aren't even made here, at least an iPod profit ends up on a Cupertino, CA balance sheet and ends up flowing into our treasury. I'd say at least 90% of my clothes are made in America, all of my shoes, hats, you name it. I have gone out of my way to buy American before, but once I have found the particular companies that do manufacture here still, there bookmarked on my Firefox. I really would rather support the American working man who makes a decent wage (avg. U.S. factory wage is $30 an hour, the highest in the world) is trying to put his kid through college, and still get the highest quality product available - with both of us seeing economic benefit from it. But, if it comes down to certain things like health or extreme well-being, I'll consider a foreign product (IQAir is from Switzerland, and I enjoy my lungs being fresh), and for me to get drunk off my ass, Jaeger from Germany. Everything else from computers, cars, electronics, you name it, it's all American in this house. Even our TV is believe it or not, made by Brillian. (plus it's the best HDTV made today, period) And American products that I have aren't that much more expensive then foreign alternatives. I've already mentioned electronics, but even the cheap mass produced items such as shirts, boxer shorts, socks, or sweatshirts as an example, I've got a ton of them, all around about $10 for each item. Yes it is possible to support the American working man and woman without going broke still. Honestly, when you walk up to any "middle class" department store in this country (Kohl's, JCPenney, etc.) I would pay more for a foreign made item there then I would where I shop. Next on the agenda, a big brand new Cadillac! =D
