There is no bigger curse than having hypersomnia or narcolepsy in this society. I'd rather be missing a limb. There are transsexuals and epileptics amongst many others that would like to have a word. transsexuals? Seriously? Honestly i disagree with both of you. Hypersomnia or narcolepsy can be a big a problem, but there honestly is no comparing between illnesses. A good friend of mine has epilepsy and manages fine in his daily life (with severe restrictions granted, but he has learned to deal) his elder brother died in a fit 15 years ago from the same illness. No matter what you personally have, saying it's the biggest curse possible is hyperbole at best. Yes it might very well be a delibating illness (for you), which currently cannot be treated, but the list of such is longer than this thread. So let's keep some perspective... I'd agree with screamingpalm that those speeches can be highly annoying if you are afflicted with any illness beyond your control, but there is very little unloading that hate on us can achieve for you. Hence why I said "amongst many others", the fact of the matter is that an assumption that one's individual plight is absolutely worse than the majority of others requires perspective that no person can possibly have. It is simply impossible to know such a thing, and is concordantly a poor way of judging society at large.

Michelle Obama absolutely killed it. That will probably be the best speech of either convention.

I am saying that stuttering does not prevent you from particpating in normal daily life. Does it prevent you from waking up on time to get to work? Does it cause you to spen half your life (at minimum) asleep? It is nowhere close to being on the level of having hypersomnia. I had thought that there were ways to rehabilitate stuttering, if not I apologize, but I don't think it leaves you as unable to hold a job or prevent you from getting to college classes like hypersomnia does. Not to mention the stygma of being seen as lazy.

In later interviews George contradicted this picture. In an interview with The Times, he "said that he was furious at subsequent reports that he had been abandoned by the Obama family and that he was filled with shame about living in a slum."[121] He told The Times, "Life in Huruma is good." George Obama said that he expects no favors, that he was supported by relatives, and that reports he lived on a dollar a month were "all lies by people who don't want my brother to win."[121] He told The Telegraph that he was inspired by his half-brother.[120] According to Time, George "has repeatedly denied…that he feels abandoned by Obama."[125] CNN quoted him as saying, "I was brought up well. I live well even now. The magazines, they have exaggerated everything… I think I kind of like it here. There are some challenges, but maybe it is just like where you come from, there are the same challenges."

It would absolutely put a ceiling on your opportunities. Sad but true.

Again, difference is between a ceiling and preventing opportunity altogether. I'd jump at the chance to have a ceiling at this point.
