I'm very happy about the result. Congratulations, USA!

The lower population areas got their counts done faster(many of which leaned republican). West cost states were counted later(many which lean democrat) The 'heatmap' they kept showing on fox(i know) was like 80% covered in red - Due to large land mass/low population republican areas and many democrat states(particularly the north-east coast) are small by land mass. Major Swing states were counted late/took a long time to 'call' compared to most others(Obama ended up winning all swing states except North Carolina).
I don't think it was a land slide but it certainly wasn't close IMO. The popular vote is 2 points going for obama. It was close don't be silly. also the tv stations need the ratings. They got to entertain the republicans to keep watching even if they arn't going to win. and the dems to stay tuned to make sure that obama wins. I dunno, 2 percentage points for Obama is certainly a lot closer than a toss-up. Especially given how Obama was polling in swing states before the race. There's really no argument the pundits (left and right) can make to justify themselves as anything more than entertainers today. Less then one percent of the nations population voted more for obama then romney. thats a pretty good reason to justify sayings its close for people. All news is entertainment. Its the only reason why you'd watch fox news other then just catching the results the next day in your newspaper anyway.
News in the 60s, 70s, even 80s was actually informative news. It wasn't blowhards with no idea what they're talking about pretending to know what they're talking about.

I have a couple of well traveled German friends who swear that people in America are far nicer and more pleasant, happier people than Europeans. They have said it seems overly polite and kind of fake sometimes but I think we now have a clear reason why generalizations based on anecdotes are bad. Experiences can change from town to town. 2 people can have completely different opinions of the same place after all.

Always wondered why posts like this aren't bannable offenses. Aren't we suppose to keep the rhetoric to a bare minimum?

I just listened to Obama's victory speech. That guy is a seriously good orator. :D

Congratulations USA for voting wisely!

Def happy to see some of the state votes.
Legalize pot in 2 states and Legalize Gay marriage in 3.
Now all of those "protection of marriage" groups can't fall back on the argument that no state has ever voted for it.

Fiouuuuuuuuu. Happy to see Obama winning. I saw a documentary last week on Arte (French-German channel) on the Tea Party and i was really afraid about the extremist of the Republicans: "we are the only country of freedom, europeans are socialist (insult?) and not free, guns=freedom (WTF?), Obama is a crypto communist, an islamist and the reincarnation of Hitler (and maybe a Sith or a Cylon?), school are evil the gouvernement don't have to educate the population (it's for the family), homosexuality is a disease, freedom=pay 10000doll in hospital or die, US Gouvernement have to spend billons of doll on army but don't have to help poor and sick people, God everywhere...."
I have no right to give my opinion on American politics, i don't live in this country and US citizens can choose their future and their gouvernement. From a foreign point of view it's just nice to see sometime the good face of US, America that we love (even the french^^).

They probably picked the biggest wackos in the tea party and interviewed them. They are largely made up of wackos, so I figure it wont be too far from the truth. I used to live in a rural area of the US that had a high proportion of "Tea Party" constituents and I can tell you that Wertherons description is not that far from the truth.

That's not the tea party. It's just some wackos calling themselves tea party. But if you hate the tea party anyway, have a good time with it.
