A vote for Green is not a wasted one.
HF voting Americans. what state are you in you dirty tree hugger. i think the greens are the party of the future for young people if only they can get their shit together on not being so stridently antibusiness in the rhetoric Green Party here, Illinois. that's cool. go jill.

Just some supporter tweeting Mitt leaning points, and standard rhetoric, did ok in followers for the endeavor though.

Green has to be written in, in nine more states, i.e. not on ballot. However, Jill Stein is more popular AFAIK, she killed the third party debates.

As long as Americans as a whole are happy with having voting day on Tuesday, I'm in no position to say no to it. However, I find it really strange that U.S., arguably the de facto leader of democracy in the world, doesn't implement a voting system that ensures as many voter turnout as possible. Having election on Tuesday even when some states don't allow early vote doesn't sound optimal. Constitution, the history behind it etc. are all old reasons which are not logical any more. To oversimplify, more voter turnout = better democracy in principle. I'm a bit puzzled why moving it to a holiday for better voter turnout is not an option for one of the bigger, greatest democratic nation of the world.

"You people" -- Good lord. It doesn't matter if it's Romney or not, that's a popular premise and rallying cry for their side. Ever since that 47% gaffe.

The US has such low voter turnout, IMO, because, our society is so inwardly and individualistic. We generally do not think our problems are with systems. We take on more hours, send Grandpa back to work, take on a bunch of debt, etc. Not much of a political community, country-wide. Per work year, we work more than any work force, are exhausted, our families are breaking down, and political disillusioned.

Children Non voting felons Non citizens ------------------------ Then there's the people that just don't care enough. I think you're way overblowing the amount of people that simply don't vote.
Also yeah I voted the weekend before Halloween. Why go stand in a line to vote and be surprised at a bunch of local candidate for SOIL AND WATER MANAGEMENT or some obscure local level addendum to the ballot. That's how jackasses get elected. You walk in and have no idea who these people are so you vote for the first one.

I found it interesting I had the "Straight Libertarian" vote option at the beginning of my ballot (Indiana). That's something, right?

Yes and the whole Tuesday thing is historic reason that people needed time to leave their farm and go to town if you are to believe :

I'm not sure how long it takes to vote in Canada, since I generally always attend advance polls...

Felons aren't automatically precluded from voting.
Also, you should go online ahead of time to get a preview of the ballot so you don't have to spend that time at the precinct.
