I kind of thought that was the whole point. If you like the job Obama is doing or think he is doing better than Romney would, than vote for him. If you don't, you don't.
What if you don't like the job either of them are doing/will do?
Sucks to be you, move to canada.
LOL. They always say they will. But they never, never do.
how's the university system doing?
It's pretty good. Still affordable, and significantly cheaper for Canadians than going to the US. For international students, the tuition is comparable or cheaper than most state universities. U of T, McGill and UBC have excellent world rankings when you consider the cost.

It does rather highlight just how absurd his opponent is.

The whole "Romney murdered my wife" ad was proven to be a complete lie. I suppose lies do make your opponent look "absurd" though.

LOL, Romney is an absurd farce and so is Obama. People drank the Kool Aid in 2008 thinking he was some sort of Messiah, at least this election cycle proves what a typical scumbag politican he is, regardless of whether he wins or not.
Could we not associate atheism with a liberal vote? Couple instances in this thread, and especially sites like Reddit, where atheism means you're automatically liberal. Isn't that the blind leap of logic that atheists discard religion and religious books on? If your an atheist don't assume one way or the other please. All Republicans aren't bible thumpers, thanks.
Anyway, I'm an atheist but what drives my vote is that I'm fiscally conservative. I don't care much for the social issues at all. The arguments and who determines them is broken. For example, my biggest view on women's rights - shouldn't women be leading the debating and determinations of women's rights and not old men? Who's body and rights are we discussing? Until issues like that is changed I don't give much of a damn about social issues.
Note - this is not directed at any specific person on the atheist/liberal rant, but a recent poster did just jog my memory because of the "I'm an atheist!" pronunciation people seem so proud to announce. Reddit was pissing me off with this ignorant association of atheism and liberal party line ideas. TL seems better but not great in this regard either.
CEOs from more than 80 major U.S. companies are pressing Congress to reduce the federal deficit by raising taxes and cutting spending. The deficit and how to tame it has become a key theme in the presidential campaign.
[...]They also seek federal investment in infrastructure and math and science education.

Remember when all those Republican representatives threw a hissy fit and threatened to move to Canada when Obama was trying to pass some proposal? Case in point lol. (Spoiler alert: they didn't go to Canada).
Edit: Yeah let's let CEOs decide what's best! And let's make the players the referees. Surely if CEOs can afford their proposed tax increases the rest of America can too!

The GOP has sort of shot itself in the foot with this one, a bit... That's a pretty entrenched polarization. What happens to American politics if fiscal conservative and religious conservative split?

I swear, you have no idea how many of my liberal friends brag about how "liberals are so much smarter than conservatives," because according to them, all liberals are atheists and all conservatives are Christians.

Well, my post was more about how an atheist would have no chance in hell of getting elected as President at the moment.
I don't know what your post is driving at though. Atheists most likely do lean left in general, just as blacks lean left and gays lean left. There are always exceptions, as there are black Republicans and gay Republicans, but when people say something like "atheists are liberal" they're just speaking generally, which I feel is totally reasonable.

edit: because the US is starting to do a pretty good job of making it an attractive idea to look for a professorship in a different country...
I'm in my third year of computer engineering at UBC. ~6.5-7k a year in tuition since I live at home (I take transit an hour each way every day since free transit via Upass is awesome). If you're an international student, expect to pay triple that + residency costs. From what I know, arts is a good bit cheaper.
edit:: oh, you meant teaching there. Umm googling got me this:

First of all, two of those are Super PAC ads ...
And if you think that's trolling ... oh boy ... wait until you see this SHIZZAT!
This video released today is courtesy of Newt Gingrinch -- the 'intellectual' of the Republican Party.

So I have been correct in calling you Professor Sam. And here I thought I was just being cute.
no, that title would be premature, unfortunately. We're thinking about the future here.
Seriously, though, I think America should start worrying about brain drain... not that mine will be any great loss in particular. But conditions for academics are starting to get more precarious...

I think the correlation is more based on feelings towards the individuals more than their policies. I mean this in the sense that even if you like what a person says, how can you trust somebody who draws their entire world view from a work of fiction. Basically the question is, does it only matter what somebody thinks or is it also important why they think it?
For example, Ron Paul is a creationist. Even if you agree with his current foreign policy, can you trust that a person so immune to facts no matter how compelling and plentiful in one area of his life to be open to new ideas as new information comes to light?

It's the old call-your-opponent-a-pig-fucker-and-make-him-deny-it trick.
It did trigger an unforced error from the Romney camp though (xDaunt knows).
