What does that list show? Countries with more gun regulation = less people are killed every year. I'm not sure how someone can look at information like that, and say "Well, more guns = less crime I guess."

I don't actually know any statistics of break-ins here in the states, but I don't imagine that most burglars are packing guns to be honest. What I said was just a generalization of what I perceive to be the thought process of someone who wanted to rob a place. And yeah, generally if there's a confrontation with a burglar, it ends with them running away.
I guess it'd be easier just to say that if someone wants a gun enough, they're going to get one, regardless of laws or pricing. My understanding of the gun laws here isn't really good, so I'll just assume that they could be reworked in some way while still maintaining a sense of freedom that everyone screams about.

There's more to owning a gun than just defending oneself. I own several for hunting for example. I sleep better at night knowing I can protect myself if need be. I'd rather get in a gunfight with a pistol wielding robber than be helpless against some thug with a knife or a bat.
Plus, the right is guaranteed in the second ammendment. There is no need for futher discussion in the US. Other countries, perhaps. But not the US. Just my two cents.

While 20 years ago whole Eastern Europe liberated itself without major military clashes. In Poland during transformation no shots were fired at all, those were fired 10 years earlier during martial law. And it weren't the citizens who did the shooting, but militia did by firing on unarmed miners. While it mattered tons of time throughout history, there are other ways.

The common argument for gun-posession is that without it criminals would be the only ones with guns. But by using this argument, people are greatly overestimating the availability of guns on the black market in a country with decent gun control. Yes, criminals can still get a gun if they have the right connections and money (gun control means illegal guns are much more expensive, a common crook won't be able to afford it and won't be able to steal a gun either), but the vast majority of criminals won't be able to get a gun at all. I don't actually know any statistics of break-ins here in the states, but I don't imagine that most burglars are packing guns to be honest. What I said was just a generalization of what I perceive to be the thought process of someone who wanted to rob a place. And yeah, generally if there's a confrontation with a burglar, it ends with them running away. I guess it'd be easier just to say that if someone wants a gun enough, they're going to get one, regardless of laws or pricing. My understanding of the gun laws here isn't really good, so I'll just assume that they could be reworked in some way while still maintaining a sense of freedom that everyone screams about.

Anyway I would argue, and I can only speak about Sweden, that most home invaders don't want to bring a gun. Contrary to your assumption about the criminals' intelligence, most break ins here are done by experienced leagues who's biggest concern is to not get noticed. And they are good at it. They just keep track of if somebody is home, know what they want and leave quickly. They don't bring the flashlight and crowbar during the night like in the cartoons. Carrying a gun is just a liabilty and a way of getting arrested if you happen to draw the police's attention.
Simply put, there is nothing to gain by carrying a gun even for most criminals, even if they're able to get a hold of one.

Arming civilians, and making it common practice to use firearms for self defence would just give bad guys more reason to shot civilians. you might not want to beleive it, but bad guys do try to avoid killing people. Its too much trouble and too much heat. you will get away with a burglary, but not with a break in and murder.
Wouldn't the high turnover rate for african regimes be proof that an armed populace is the best way to get rid of an unpopular government? The fact that they're replaced by equally bad governments is a factor of the people themselves and has nothing to do with guns.
