Hey guys I have problem when it comes to denim jeans. I've tried numerous pairs and I cant find a perfect fit. I have big ass thighs and calves. I've tried straight cut, boot cut and others styles. Always seemed like its too skinny and tight or big on the waist and sort of baggy. What would you guys recommend for a casual guy that often wears V necks
5 10, 180lbs. Athletic build ecto/mesomorph
How does these look? really tight on the thighs though. If I were to get a size bigger, theres too much room on my waist. A bit too long also but they didnt have a 1 size smaller.

its not stretchy enough in the crotch region, so yes I guess its the material. I can wear slacks and the like just fine since they usually give more room there and are more flexible, whereas I dont fit into jeans. So I guess chinos are what im looking for? never heard of that before

you pretty much confirm the stereotype here with what solsken is arguing. As some one who knows nothing about this, I do not know that I need to list these things. You immediately resort to belittling me because I know less about fashion then you lol. Good job proving the troll correct.

Yeah I've looked at some slim fit recently and I just need to shop around more with jeans with my size.

Also what looks good with dark denim? color wise lol For guys with big thighs I'd say either 514s or 513s. 514 is slim straight, essentially the same cut around the hip as 511s (skinny) but much wider around the thigh, and taper down past the knees and into the calves. 513s are the same as 514s except they have a much higher rise and are looser around the thigh. The rise refers to the measurement between your crotch seam to the waist band. Higher rises are obviously longer and you're supposed to wear them higher on waist, lower is the opposite. I would avoid bootcuts as they don't do anything but flair out at the bottom, but this is a matter of taste. Generally I haven't really seen anybody wear bootcuts. If you really want that style, then 517s are your best bet; they're basically 514s with leg flare. The aforementioned are Levi's fits, but then again even two Levi's with the same fit code aren't the same. Either order online directly from Levi's or try them on at the department store (Macy's). Avoid Levi's Made for Outlets (the ones in outlets..) and Levi's Signatures (walmart/target/etc). These two lines are outsourced and licensed; they generally have poor cutting and stitching. Also avoid jean jackets sold at actual Levi's stores in malls, you're better off getting LVC (vintage line) trucker jackets. If you're into entry-level enthusiast denim I would recommend N&F weird guys or unbranded 201s/301s.
As for 'what looks good with dark denim' that's such a broad, generic question. Anything looks good with it. That's like asking 'what looks good with a crewneck?'

Good job proving the troll correct. see fracus posts a picture, gives measurements, and lists out what he tried out before. you on the other hand, give us 'I've tried jeans, they don't work' and 'guys y r u not helping me'. It's literally like you went to the bw strategy section and said 'guys I need a new build for pvz, dt/sair doesn't work..' I don't see how that was belittling either; I was trying to convey what information you need to give in order to receive helpful advice.

You could try wearing a jean with 1 or 2% spandex/98% cotton that you can buy form any skateboarding shop/online skate shop. Even 2% will stretch enough to do the splits in skinny jeans. There are jeans that fit everyone perfectly and feel amazing, and jeans go with everything, so basically wear jeans!

Much appreciated Andyrau! Going to a Macy's tomorrow after work to check them out. I've never really wore any Levi's but I will give them a go! In the past I've been wearing AE and Lucky brand. Also I do like Gap Jeans but sizing and fitting are the issues.

I ordered a pair from http://www.chesterjefferies.co.uk/Scripts/default.aspHandmade deerskin, cashmere lining. My little christmas present. But seriously, after a pair of thicker pants for the winter, and a down jacket/vest, no more shopping till at least my birthday.
considering they were around $70 (about how much cashmere lined leather gloves would run at a department store, give or take), they feel so much better than the ones I've tried out. So soft (I didn't expect deerskin to be that soft), quite warm considering its just cashmere and leather, and hand made is just icing. Sorry that the image quality is bad.

Hey guys,I thought I'd share my recent winter wear purchase.I'm not really into peacoats or down filled jackets, was also looking for something very durable,so I went for a nylon carhartt ranger jacket. + Show Spoiler + So far I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

I normally just lurk here, but this was one of my purchases recently. + Show Spoiler + It seems fairly cheap for something that is completely custom made . I hope I didn't violate any code of buying belts though. All in all we will see how it looks on me, people looking at the website should note that belts come in those sizes but different colors.

there is no "code" for buying belts. Looks like some nice small batch stuff.

Whats everyones preference when its comes to denim jeans and belts?
|
Like what jeans to wear with what belt? It's not really a big deal, just match belt and shoes if you're wearing leather shoes and leather belt, otherwise as long as it doesn't stick out in the bad way, belt and jeans don't really need any particular matching tbh

Typically a shade of brown/tanish. The wider the belt/ bigger the buckle, the more casual it is. If you ever wear leather boots/ shoes with your jeans, your belt should be similarly colored. To your previous post, and the response you got- I would try Levi 514s or 513s (if you can find them) like the previous poster suggested. One thing though- I think he got 514s and 513s mixed up, the 513s are the ones with the taper below the knee. They are also harder to find in retail stores as well, I think urban outfitters has them and most stores will have 514s. You could also try Levi 508 which has more room in the thigh area and a more drastic taper below the knee.
edit: simplified
