there are some exceptions to that exception of a rule.
for example, some people would argue burberry goes on that list but the quality of their outerwear is fantastic and one of their coats lasts you a lifetime. hence, even though a cashmere trench might cost you your liver and you're probably overpaying for it by maybe ~25%, I view it as a long-term investment that's probably well worth it in the end.

also that heattech shit from uniqlo is a downright scam hahaha

can i get a rec for alternative winterwear? i come from 0 snow to o shit its gonna snow in 2 months and i dont have shit for it

unfortunately I cannot afford a burberry coat right now....

and on that note after that point of expense (ie lv/gucci) its really all showing off.

not that i mind

don't think he meant he likes them better, just that quality is better.

I am but a young padawan in this field but wish to pursue more knowledge.

I ask that maybe some of you guys could offer some basic places that are cheap but nice to shop at to build a foundation for a newbie's fashion in general. I have yet to find my style but I am attracted to clean cut stylish looks (would like a wardrobe of suits if I had the money xD) though a bit nerdy/geeky look is cool too .

In other words what are some ok (friendly to wallet but good deal for quality)places to consider shopping at that isn't AE or Hollister crap (REALLY dislike them).

andy, should i worry about the material in the coat, or will it not matter? Like for a coat, will 100% wool be better as an investment, than, say, those mixed topman ones?

which catch my eye actually. Except for that they're out of my size -_-

As I'm sure you could figure out, the material of a coat depends on the circumstances you would wear it in. Wool would obviously be a cold weather jacket. Those multi-material jackets on topman are no exception. Take for instance one of those wool jackets with leather patches. The patches are there purely for stylistic significance, they don't help or hinder the jacket in any way with regards to the weather. In most cases, the mixed jackets are that way for extra style.

many thanks ^^

now i gotta figure out how to get an out of size topman coat...

most websites have a sizing chart, krndandaman. returns vary though. ive really only bought 2 things online clothing wise

1 is http://us.gant.com/men/clothing/yale-co-op which i probably shouldnt have. the quality is alright but its sized a bit awkward for me and is definitely NOT a $115 shirt. I didnt bother returning but i did learn my lesson...
2 are my bean boots which fit ok and didnt have to be returned.

thanks, I don't know what the cm is referring to on the topman sizing chart though. for the chest I just have to measure around my chest with a tape measure right? would you guys buy these products online? I need a coat as well and I don't want to go through returning items so yeah lol

use your nipples as a guide hehe

actually im not sure what part of your chest...
i'd buy the topman online tbh

Ok ok guys, here's the challenge :

Gray suit (not too dark, not too pale).

White shirt with this?

Black belt + black shoes = ok?

I would go with a white or light blue shirt, and brown belt and shoes. black works, but I think brown looks nicer with gray.

how much are the boxer briefs?

i know we've kinda said no H&M but i do have to vouch for the David Beckham line. Really comfy after a wear or two (but trunks > boxer briefs, just size up 1 if its too small, but they stretch out). Can't speak for longevity yet though

XenOmega, occasion?

I might have a brown Belt, but definitely no brown shoes (well I do, but kind of old). Brown belt + black shoes?

I'm leaning toward white, but many people say it doesn't have taste (on my FB wall)

If you don't have brown shoes (get some) keep the black I guess. Keep the leather the same color.

Shirt color could go either way. what tie are you gonna wear? also provide pictures :D
