If you want to go with some polos just get a few and keep them kinda understated (no big pony style) and high quality. goddamn. and where i can get them :p
also since im moving i recently got the chance to look at my closet and see what i'm keeping or not. would anyone be interested in reading a list of what i'm bringing with me (to college), possibly with pictures if requested (but not of individual items unless its only like 1 or 2), and giving me a hand with what's missing in my closet? I'm pretty set on bringing everything, but im not packing an awful amount, at least by my standard. i seem to have a lot more than most people my age though ><

Lacoste is pretty good in terms of quality and if you don't mind the croc, kent Wang is supposedly very good in terms of quality and completely logoless, but I don't own any myself

Got them from my parents and I dont recall where they bought them. I assume they have the standard life lenght as any decent polo if you use them normaly and take care of them with washing ect. A cheap one #3 a expensive one #??

i realized i don't really have coats/jackets... i usually just layer myself to death and have 1 legitimate winter jacket able to withstand near freezing temperatures imo trench coats give a silhouette that's hard to pull off because it defines the waist, making it incredibly feminine. pea coats are likewise hard to pull off because it emphasizes the upper portion of your body, so unless the coat you buy is fitted very well, you're going to look extremely top heavy.
I recommend a bridge coat, the compromise between a pea coat and a trench coat.

I also ended up buying a pair of APC Petit Standards. APC sources cotton/denim weaves from Chinese mills; they haven't used actual Japanese mills for ~2-3 years. their quality controls have been falling steadily for the last couple years as well.
Really, the only thing APC PS offers over any other mid-range brands is their cut. If you don't want to compromise quality with cutting, you could get some N&Fs and tailor them to the same measurements. However, the best alternative is to buy 3sixteens if you're looking for the same modern fit and minimalist design, which source directly from Kaihara mills. That place is certainly overplayed, but their craftsmanship is still highly venerated. 3sixteens also use pure indigo dye, which is harder to come by because sulfur dyes are so much easier to produce and use. Or get rogue territories, it's almost the same shit with a slightly different cut.

Where do you guys go to buy your clothing? I'm in and out of Macy's, TJ Maxx, and JC Penny, but can never seem to find any shorts that aren't huge or somewhat decent shirts. Do I have to spend more money to get slim fit clothes?

I bought two pairs of Sperry's. ..SO COMFORTABLE.

I like the fit cause im a smaller guy, but i mean its not a huge problem as long as they dont make me look ridiculous. im (almost) over the girl jeans phase anyway
Ill keep your advice in mind for my next pair ^^ many thanks!

why would you tailor them after getting your fades? combs would look misplaced; stacks (assuming you want them) would be gone if you hem after fading. unsanforized cotton will shrink approximately to its original state after first wash, so there's no need to be concerned about stretching/natural lengthening. + Show Spoiler +unsanforized cotton stretches approximately 7-10% and shrinks around 5% during cold wash/soak + dry. too lazy to find source but go read up on it.
As for getting them tailored, if you want them fitted then go for your inseam + 1 inch (obv for the seamstress to sew the hem); if you want to cuff add 2 inches instead. If you want stacks go an additional 2.5-3 inches. For example, my inseam is 32.5 so my N&Fs are hemmed to 34.5, with a cuff of ~1.25 inches. Be sure to either know your body measurements well, or tell the tailor to measure for you. I'm assuming you understand the importance of ratios and how to cuff your jeans so I will not embellish on that.

Quick question. I'm going in tomorrow to start at a new temp job. The recruiter who I worked with mentioned it was NYC Summer buisness casual, which means dress shirt, dress pants, belt, dress shoes. But then he recommended wearing a tie without a jacket on the first day just to make an impression.
Am I crazy or does that no violate the "don't wear a tie without a jacket rule" I've heard so much about? Wouldn't that be a fashion foul?
Also until I can head to the store tomorrow, my only dress pants are the navy blue ones that go with my suit. Will a solid White shirt and Navy blue pants work together with black lace ups?
|
wear the jacket, no tie. hopefully its linen if its summer O_o. he said to make an impression i mean
pictures for that last part
and thanks andy ^^ will stack and post pictures of stacks on stacks on stacks
