I liked JWD's suggestion for a casual summertime watch:

I also have a Skagen titanium watch. (basically this model in black) Personally I don't like a watch with much weight on it, this was something that is both a professional male style while being lightweight and modern.

. Some people say to button all buttons on a peacoat, but I've heard other people say to do just 1 button (middle or bottom) - so what is correct? And I know it's generally frowned upon to wear brown shoes with a black jacket/shirt, but I got a pair of brown nubuck boots I really like - would you guys recommend against wearing them together?

And on a different note, I'm pretty lost when it comes to matching colors. I've read several articles/watched videos about the color wheel and color relationships, but that still doesn't help me much in knowing how to match what with what. I'm also at a loss as to knowing what colors really match you well. I'm asian with medium complexion.

Thanks a lot - this is a great thread, so thanks for starting it

I picked up a pair of brown dress shoes from Nordstrom Rack a week ago, they've been great so far.

Also looking at getting some cool summer shoes that could be worn in a casual office with chinos, or outside of work with jeans. Here's what they had at the Macy's near where I live (Rack had nothing decent that wasn't either very formal, or sneakers). Thoughts on these?

Well the easiest colour combination that always looks great is black and whites and similiar colours (grey dark blue). All black looks good almost all the time and all white is good on a spring day.

Black and white also look good with graphic tees and other bright colours. Assuming of course you are a young adult, and want to dress like most young asians do.

If you need some pictures for inspiration look at some Korean shopping sites or maybe some celebrities.

Unfortunately many American fashionistas dislike any type of bright color or branding on clothes, but I think Koreans are a step ahead in fashion sense anyways. As long as you don't look like an advertisement it's fine. Nothing wrong with a logo'd shirt or belt imo.

So, as I go off to my fancy art college in September, I'd like to go totally prepared as a whole so I was wondering what you guys would recommend for the following:

1. Dress clothing
- The thing here is that I want to have some degree of casual going with it. How do you guys feel about vests? I kind of like them, and I think that I could look fairly sharp in a vest and a nice long sleeved shirt, but still be capable of making the outfit as a whole nice and casual. As far as dress pants are concerned, I'm not well off and have no idea what I would be looking for, but I've got a bit of a bubble butt, so slimming would be good. :-p

2. Good quality winter clothing and such
- This includes gloves, hats, jackets, and scarves.

3. I need a new haircut.
- I need a new one badly, I won't burn your eyes with pictures of the way the person at haircuttery butchered my haircut, but lets just assume that I can grow it out to whatever, and would prefer a minimal amount of real maintenance to sustain, whatever would fit the shape of my face really.

I hope this isn't overwhelming, I'm just trying to put together a nice and necessary wardrobe for college if humanly possible, I also have literally no dress clothing and all of one winter hat, that happens to be a chicken hat. I'm generally underequipped.

Thanks in advance. <3

Gotta define dress clothing here. Are you looking to have a more formal wardrobe, just add some more "nicer" pieces to it, or remake it in general? I'm doing the last one, and I've just been slowly adding stuff here and there. New sweater this week, maybe a new dress shirt there, eventually you'll learn what you like as long as you don't go overboard. However if you're just looking to add more formal clothing to wear whenever, just buy a suit and go to a department store and ask them to fit you with a shirt and tie. You'll be able to wear it whenever you want. On the other hand, if you want to add some "nicer" stuff that you can wear either casually or formally (which is what you sound like you want), well. Buy some nice OCBD (oxford cloth button down) shirts that are plain, as well as some work shirts (Chambray, cotton with extra plys [layers], maybe denim if you feel adventurous). Polos are always good, as are fitting V-necks.

2. Good quality winter clothing and such
- This includes gloves, hats, jackets, and scarves.

Damn, I need some of this too. I'm moving from California (Orange County) to Illinois (Urbana) in the fall, and my winter wardrobe is a little bit lacking. So far on my list is a peacoat, car coat (longer, like down to my knees), and padded gloves. I have some scarves and wool gloves already though, keep them wool/cotton for warmth I think. I want one of those bright ass colored ones that all the koreans seem to have....

3. I need a new haircut.

The OP has a lot of nice pictures. My hair's short right now but its hard to describe, and it wouldn't really help as you're a difference race than I LOL. I just shave mine every year and go from there, tbh. Least maintenance is always very short.

OK guys, in need of some advice.
I know that it clearly says "Men's Fashion Thread" but I need help with watches for girls.
My lady friend (basically my girlfriend, although it is not official) has her birthday coming up, and she wants a watch. I told her I had no idea of what she would want and said she would come with me to choose. While she might do this, I wanted to hear your guys opinions on womens watches. I was thinking a simple round face with a genuine leather band, or there is the other option of those full metal watches, that look a bit nicer, but aren't as practical.

What do you guys think?

Soooo I wanna go for the korean dandy haircut but my hair is really straight and kinda thin...I can style it to get a nice swoosh look but it doesn't really retain the sick layers that kpop stars are able to get with their perms. SO I'm wondering if I could get a perm too? Does anyone have any experience with this? I can't really find anything about guys getting perms via google...msg me if u wanna help I can send pics too.

Is what I found after sifting through a few dozen pages of haircuts, what d'ya think, all?

Also, to expand upon what I'm after as far as dress clothing is really just clothing that would qualify as dress clothing, but with either the potential to be used in a casual setting, or that is casual in itself, while still qualifying as dress clothing.

Its kind of difficult to really put into words.

Kind of like the Reaper from the american Being Human.

I mean, I'm an art student, and I'm an incredibly casual person, and I kind of want to reflect that.

And as far as winter clothing is concerned, I also have reaaaallllly sensitive eyes, and the cold tends to make me tear up really badly, so I was curious as to whether or not any knows if goggles might be a sensible investment.

To all Aussies;

If you're looking for some nice dress shirts or a suit for cheap, I just bought a Pierre Cardin Suit for $150 (down from $700) and a couple of dress shirts for a combined $35 ($160 normally).

Just make sure to use the coupon codes TSM12 (for the dress shirts) and ASKMENA (for the suit).

Hurry and get in before stock runs out.

So casual that you can dress up.

I'd suggest just going and buying some casual button up shirts, thicker cotton maybe, but not quite dress shirts though keep a few dress shirts in your closet :p

I'm no expert on fashion, since well, I haven't really until recently given any two fucks what I wore and all that.

I had to get a suit and shit for a special occasion. I do look good if I do say so myself, class as fuck. Nonetheless, I don't want to just wear all this shit once and then forget about it making it a like $300-400 wasted investment. The shirt and pants are definitely something I can work with in the future, but the jacket is what's killing me. My bro was saying just to wear it around with jeans if I had a date or something, but I'm not sure if there are very many contexts to wear such a jacket? It's just a plain black dress jacket thingy, nothing fancy. General tips I guess on how to incorporate this shit into an everyday wardrobe!

Also, I got a shit ton of sleeved shirts that I found out of nowhere. I live in Florida, so sleeves are generally unadvisable during the summer but I fucking love some of these things. Rolled sleeves, y/n?

In casual setting I see nothing wrong at all with rolling or just pulling up long sleeves. At least I'm doing it all the time

Rolled sleeves are rarely a bad choice! Especially switching between rolled and not delending on the ocassion. Like today I went from shirt with a sweater on to rolling up the sleeves for some frisbee.

I've been buying too much recently, but I'm all good for summer now. Fair share of tanks, some shorts, lighter shirts. Gotta pack for my winter lol.
