what price point do express shirts run? im seeing $30 on sale, $60 otherwise.
for $30 really uniqlo is your only option. maybe some HM stuff but if you're wearing it regularly qlo/hm shirts will wear out quick.
for $60 actually i dunno. BR is probably around there but I wouldn't put their quality much higher. but BB shirts are around $80 (if you buy a few, $90 alone) and are much better quality. just have one tailored. I'm assuming you're wearing them for work with a suit and stuff?
i almost always size down on the denim at this point. but my waist always seems to stretch out a little too much (read: i need to go run). 28s would be too small for my legs, but on a 29 the waist is maybe an inch too far out. esp on my RRLs. which make me look much slimmer than i feel sometimes
what's bb? banana republic is like $10 more expensive on average i think, i consider them similar price wise but BR's casual wear looks a little too old and formal imo, but they have nice outerwear and blazers. So does this mean brands like h&m aren't better than express quality wise?

brooks brothers probably. Random question: What are those buttons & straps on the shoulders of coats actually for?
people commonly know it as an 'epaulette', but technically epaulettes are military-decoration fringes that hang off the shoulder strap that runs above/along the shoulder seam they're supposed to be called 'passants' or 'shoulder straps' but nobody seems to use that term anymore.
anyhow they're a military carryover that serves no use whatsoever in regular clothing.
I'm not sure what buttons you're talking about but unless it attaches a flap or something the buttons are probably decorative.
yeah brooks
wait were you talking about t-shirts or dress shirts LOL. cause my post was about dress shirts
oh about t-shirts lol, talking about only casual wear, t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, etc. My nautica/polo ones from high school are still in good shape but anything express or guess have either mutated into weird shapes or torn apart from simply wearing a lot. I guess I'll go to a uniqlo store, I found a new one they opened only 40min away so not bad. I didn't know their stuff is so insanely cheap.

roflll
then ignore everything i said lol
what is the price point of express Ts ?
holy fuck lol.
cheapo (sub 10) would be qlo
everlane is at 15, and i really like them.
john elliot co is at $65. from what ive handled, the micromodal Ts are suuuper nice. also outlier is at that price point
acne is a little over i think. so is T by awang. haven't touched either of those
what about for hoodies? I like the express fit but it feels super cheap.
everlane has a cashmere hoodie for $140 but its sold out atm. john elliot is also around $180. ive never handled either idk
uniqlo has cheap ones as always.
im not a big hoodie guy though. atm i have 2 college hoodies, 2 really old ones that i wear to work out, and a TL one.
oh yeah get a TL hoodie. although the cut runs pretty tight
thanks, i'll definitely try to grab some uniqlo
i lied about the T by A Wang shirts actually. i've handled some of the more sheer Ts made for layering, but not 100% cotton ones. but yeah uniqlo is probably best for your budget. esp if you're actually in china. international shipping for everlane/J.E.co/outlier is probably kinda expensive
edit: also there's prolly stuff in between but i don't know of them personally. ive heard wolf vs goat is really good but that's out of stock atm
not in China, in New England actually, lots of retailers but few good ones cuz of lack of big cities. What's your take on hoodies in general? I feel like it's something I should move past as I get older (mid 20s), but they're just so easy to put on and practical in cold weather.
Quick question: I have a reeeallly nice navy blue peacoat, Michael Korrs. I'm quite skinny and its the only coat like this I've found that fits as well as it does. But I was wondering... Can I wear black pants with it? I've always heard that navy+black is a big no no, but recently someone told me that navy and black is ok this year. Confuses the hell out of me.
idk hoodies are comfort clothes for me. as a college student i wear them like half the time bc i dont care about how i look if im grinding out studying lol. also when its cold in my room im not about to throw on a coat
just avoid obnoxious ones and they're whatevers. useful.
dont worry so much about what's in "this year". yes you can wear it with black stuff. should you? that's purely contextual
I haven't had trouble with my express t-shirts, but I always wash them in cold water and line dry them. Their dress shirts are a mixed bag. I usually like the fit but the plackets on all of mine are not holding up to even the gentlest dry cleaning.
The 10-year-hoodie from Flint and tinder is an interesting option at 99$. Good construction and comfortable, but they run large. No shame in wearing one past 20, but wear them when appropriate, not all the time just because.
@immaterial - it's an overcoat, so wear it with whatever you want. Unless you plan to wear your coat inside then why does it matter? Comfort and warmth are more important than not having blue/black together.
i saw the F&T one when they crowdsourced it. cool idea, especially with the lifetime repairs. but i feel like if you're spending a bill on a hoodie of all things, you should just get a cashmere/super luxe one from brands that make comfort clothing at that price point.
I'm not sure I would want a hoodie in a lux material. I don't want to have to worry about messing it up, spills, wearing it out, etc. Strong construction and low maintenance would be the main selling points for me. Good point though.
I don't know how much I buy into the 10-years of repairs. What kind of damage will you put a hoodie through that can actually be repaired?
what're you doing with it though lol.
i guess lux hoodies are more for lounging than normal. i get the first two - i worry about that every time i wear my jeans. but i guess you just have to accept that its just clothes lol and wearing out denim is kind of a thing.
its pretty much just for rips and tears i guess. although, its also a way to increase the price point because most people wont be using it
