Personally I don't think they are that great, I get that they are this "classical" preppy item but I just think that there are so many better looking more versatile boots out there. Look at the picture below (in the spoilier) for example. Sure he looks great and the boots fit very well, but imo he would look twice as good if he wore a jumper boot like this one. http://cdn.styleforum.net/7/7a/7a5d13e2_tumblr_m90j4iaokA1r4xcqjo2_1280.jpeg However, If you really like the boots and they look good on you then there's really no issue. They are known for their great quality and keep in mind that a lot of people really do like the look. Usually people seem to either love or despise them, I'm somewhere in the middle. + Show Spoiler + ![]()

I'm a fan of duck boots because they're functional. if there's enough snow on the ground that I need to keep my feet that dry, the way i look is secondary to a) am i warm b) am i dry. I have a pair of 8". squeaky in the rain, but good for the snow. If you don't wear thick socks it feels a little big - here's the vtb stuff. no fit pics with them. too cold for the beanie (its very thin), not sure how i want to wear the tank yet. it's not as long as it seems actually. bunches up a good amount. the J shaped asymmetrical one feels like it'd be better though just because it doesnt look like a dickbib. this tank needs to be pulled to the side a little. big pictures + Show Spoiler + Bonus fitpic. + Show Spoiler + ![]() manbun (purely functional bc the back of my hair isnt cut for one. hair was in my face and i needed to take an exam) uniqlo / rugby /br /acne /nike on a side note i think i need to start getting jeans that are cut a little more full. the sharp line you can see in that pic is partially due to the angle, but even with my RRLs I feel like I should just get a more full thigh and less of a taper. idk. ill get a fitpic of the RRLs when i wear them next

I think bean boots look okay, but more importantly they're winter proof and I hope that if I get the unlined ones I can wear them during other seasons without getting too warm. It just seems like there are no other options for real winter boots. I like Tretorn. They have a plain rubber boot that is about ankle height. Nice to wear with a big wool sock. I have these: http://us.tretorn.com/strala-mens-brown-rubber-boots/p/47220105/ If your budget is higher they have a lot of better looking options. http://us.tretorn.com/mens-shoes/c/10100/

I'm graduating this spring with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and I plan to start applying for jobs this winter break. Should I wear a suit to interviews? In the past (for internships) I've always worn a button down, slacks and a tie for interviews. But from what i've gathered in the past few days, it sounds like a tie without a jacket is a bad idea. So if a suit is the way to go, it sounds that Charcoal suits are the best option, correct? How much should I be looking to spend on a suit? $1000? Its an intimidating number for someone who doesn't have an income yet, but its also an investment.. what do you guys think I should be spending? I've been bulking and lifting through college, in total i've gained about 20 lbs. I want to add 10 more lbs before i'm done gaining weight, and that will probably take another 6-9 months. Will it be a problem to get a suit that is tailored to fit me now if I plan on adding 10 more lbs? Should I get a watch? It seems like an important accessory Can I be satisfied with one under $250? And on a more fashion note, how much should I consider my hair color when assessing colors for clothes? My hair is a dull boring light brown, and while I use to like grey a lot for clothes, it seems like it makes the dullness in my hair stand out, almost making my hair look grey. In the past I would have gotten a silver watch, but considering my hair, it seems like gold accessories would draw out what little blond remnants i have in my hair instead of drawing out the grey tone. Or am I just mind-gaming myself?

Definitely interested in this famous Cone Mills denim aha. i have APC PS. cut isn't for me now that i really think about it, but the quality is pretty good. don't wait 10 months to wash like me or you'll get holes. they didn't even fade that much after almost every day wear for a few months. you could prolly do 3 washes in the first year and not have it be too light. itkovian: (and for brumzy because i never replied to your PM) grats man! depends on the context. most of the engineers i know don't because engineering formality lol. just wear the shirt. friend of mine wore steel toed boots and with khakis and a shirt because plants. charcoal or navy are the most versatile. how often will you wear the suit? you don't need a 1k suit if you're only wearing it for a few interviews. if you're barely gonna wear it, spend like $200 on a cheap suit and tailoring. if you'll wear it a few times a week, go up to $500-$600. if you'll wear it very often you can consider the 1k but even then, 2 $500 suits is better for wear and tear. if you don't do the GQ style slim everything there's plenty of room to grow in the pants. depending on your shoulder gains though you might need a new suit. (side note: does it really take that long to gain 10lbs? ive got a lot of lifting to do...). shoulder is gonna be the biggest issue because your waist ideally won't get too big, and the leg of the pants won't be so tight you can't gain a few pounds. waist and chest also can have room to grow. how many inches of each measurement is that poundage for you? (like does chest go from 38-40 with a 10lbs gain ? etc) watch if it's necessary. it should be purely functional. it's in bad taste to wear one for certain events (like parties or interviews) because you shouldn't be checking time in those occasions anyway. you can be satisfied with one at $15, or $100, or $1000. depends on how much you like your watches don't think about hair too much. people will notice your eyes more. if they're blue, blue highlights in your clothes will draw more attention for your face (which you want when you wear suits) than your hair will. i wouldn't wear a suit in the color of your hair though

First time I've ever heard of that don't think about hair too much. people will notice your eyes more. if they're blue, blue highlights in your clothes will draw more attention for your face (which you want when you wear suits) than your hair will. i wouldn't wear a suit in the color of your hair though I think alan flusser said that by wearing clothes that are the same colour as your hair helps to draw the viewer's eye to the face the same way a frame focuses attention to a picture. But of course, even if true this is far from a rule

Its a little engrained in tradition but it makes sense Alternatively, you wear a watch because you a) like watches or b) want to show off Which is respectable. But buying a watch to interview is pointless. Buy one because you like watches. - Yeah but his hair is light brown, which (assuming you're white) is a little close to your skin. Especially if you're gonna wear a light brown suit. You'll look like poop. Also because you're wearing a suit and a tie, you naturally have a "frame" to draw people to your face.

i'm relieved to hear i don't need to be spending a lot on a suit. maybe i'll drop some serious money on a nice one later if it feels applicable to my job i think i'll end up getting a watch for style, and functionality on the job. it seems wiser to check time on a watch rather than pull out a cell phone

You shouldn't worry about the cone mills material as much as the construction, fading and fit. Afaik almost every MIUSA raw brand sources their denim from cone mills (or equivalent quality) so its a lot more important to get the right fit down.

APCs aren't made in the USA though and all the raw denim I have is Japanese denim so I am interested in at least trying out American denim at least once. I have no concerns about the construction regarding either APC or RT and when it comes to how the fit is I have no way to try the Rogue Territory but I should definitely be able to find some APCs.
