Does anyone know of a clothing article that is just a hood e.g. like the hood from a hoodie or jacket? What I'm looking for is a hood that comes down and ends at the neck or upper shoulders, and is designed to be worn with a regular shirt (rests over the top) or jacket without hood (tucks in at the neck). Does such a clothing article exist? Does it have a name? Has anyone ever seen something like this? | ||

Closest thing I can think of is one of those wool hats with the ear flaps like such As for how good it looks, I'll let you decide. Yeah... definitely looking for something more minimalist and stylish haha, not so utilitarian. Something like the hood on a shirt like you're talking about, except I'm looking for just the hood so that I can mix and match. I really like hoods! But I don't want to only wear clothes with hoods already attached. | ||

If you know your size on the 5 last, you should troll around on ebay for a pair. I got mine in like new condition for $125 shipping in. Honestly the best investment I have made in my wardrobe so far. I've been having a lot of trouble recently with the aesthetic I want to have for myself. I haven't bought anything since Thanksgiving because of this - it's useless to keep buying if they won't fit what you want. Well, I don't know what I want. I've experimented a lot - preppy, cleaner clothing, streetwear type things, but I've never completely committed in any one outfit. Now I don't know how I want to mold my look, and I can't add to my closet until I have an idea. Although, I have been cutting out a lot of things in my closet regardless. Especially because of the many many online sources on different things - runway/high/designer fashion, SF's "look," classical menswear blogs, streetwear blogs, even sufu a bit, I have no idea where I want to go because I enjoy it all. | ||

A tailored cucinelli suit is great, but walk into a uni class wearing it and you'd look totally out of place. Knowing the right balance when you combine articles of clothing from different styles is, to me, most important. For example, wearing a raf duffle over some traditional menswear, or pairing an engineered garment print with some julius trousers and aldens accomplishes a well-tuned outfit that incorporates clothing from two styles that are wildly different but work well in tandem if you understand the effect you're going for. Rocking some geobaskets with slacks and a shirt is, unfortunately, not accomplishing the aforementioned. my opinion is simply to mix and match for the occasion, and browse/lurk more to understand or draw inspiration for whatever silhouette or style you're aiming for. if it means anything, superraw and watsoncrick are my favorite waywt posters on sufu. | ||

I agree with dressing for the occasion. There's only so much I can do as a student lol. I especially have to watch what I wear on thursdays, because I have lab and the risk of acids spilling on my things... No thanks. I mean you're pretty much right Andy lol. I remember reading "lurk more" when I was like 13 and just found the internet. I've been given maybe 2 pieces of advice greater than that in my life. Thanks for the recs. I need to open sufu more. Focus, I already wasted a lot of money lol. Not an ungodly amount but I def wasn't being very smart. :p. growing pains | ||
