MeLo: what about it? I like the hat, I like that the pale blue compliments his skin tone, I think that those pants don't look very warm.

If anyone has any questions that they feel would be useful for a FAQ section, please feel free to post/PM. Also if you'd like to add a Q/A for the FAQ please do the same.

I dont thing anyone can feel good wearing an "outfit" copied from some style, i personaly like many styles, and have developed my own "not-style" (Only thing is that I usualy wear most things black or dark blue, but i sometimes wear something crazy too) and I thing everyone should do so, cause if u want to make an impression, that u are something that u arent, everyone will find out who u realy are eventually

Thanks for the advice guys. I don't really know what to get in the way of facial scrubs etc, any particular brands to look for? I'm in England if you didn't notice.

I already wash my hair every other day. When I did it everyday it greased up after about 5 hours, It's a lot better every other for me. I've also gone with not washing it for a week and it was just a mess. I have a full-time job so I'm not trying it again.

This is what I use for scrub, I think that it works really well. I use it once a day in the morning during showering, I would suggest moisturizing afterwards with this product. So far it has really been clearing my face up which I'm pleased with, but hey, everyone's body is different.

I use burt's bees wash and st ives apricot scrub

Make sure whatever you use does not have salicylic acid, research the ingredients, and test products out.

Moisturize every day, the "your skin is so soft" compliments are so worth it

Hello,

Got a solid job in Milwaukee where I know no-one and am pretty excited about it. I will be moving there in a few months, and I want to use it as an oppourtunity to get some style. I've never had the oppourtunity to buy a selection of clothes. I've always had hand-me-downs, presents, and stuff on sale.

Anyhoo I have zero experience in this stuff, but I'm excited to look good. Dress code is Business Casual with the inclusion of 'nice' jeans (no holes or discoloring). Business Formal while meeting with Clients. I'm going to be starting this wardrobe almost from scratch.

I will appreciate any thoughts, advice, and also approval of any ideas that are correct. (I lack any sort of confidence at this!)
Any retailer recommendations would be awesome. (I'm not rolling in dough yet)

Shoes : I'm looking for a pair or two that aren't street shoes but not dress shoes. Comfort is a huge concern. I stumbled upon these in this thread and I really like the look to them.
http://www.dune.co.uk/toretto-side-stripe-leather-lace-up-trainer-0483506110001494/

Socks: I've got the white socks with Jeans down, and the dress pants+socks+shoes down. But as I mention in the next few sections. I have no idea about what to do for business casual.

Pants : I am comfortable with nice jeans, I've got a few pairs. However, I'm completely lost on what to do about non-jean sub-formal pants. Even worse I can't seem to find a pair that fits right. (Maybe I'm just used to the loose and comfy fit of jeans.)

Belts: Formal Belts, check.
http://www.frenchtruckers.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/jean-shop-belt.jpg
I've got these sort of belts that are thrown in with many purchases of jeans at like AE or w/e. With jean/tshirt they seem to work fine. My instinct tells me something is wrong if they are combined with like a cardigan+button up.
I'm lost when it comes to belts + pants with a business casual outfit.

Upper body: I've got a few nice button up's and undershirts that mix and match nicely with a couple cardigans I bought recently.
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jvA-1UBvysg/TSIvoMa_FyI/AAAAAAAAAeY/JA4nRpMwCf0/s1600/levis-merino-wool-cardigan.jpg
I've been playing it safe, going without stripes, and going with bland colors like grey and dark blue. I feel like this can go well with Jeans and also khaki or other non-formal pants, depending on the colors.
So far I think this is my best category, but I still need some broadening.
I have a problem with having somewhat broad shoulders and being thin and tall. Shirts tend to never fit me. Mediums fit well but are too short, and larges are big enough but leave so much room around the torso. This is why I became attached to the cardigan/ Large nice shirt look. I have an upperbody outfit something like this.
http://leopardprintcardigan.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/cardigan-for-men.jpg
What are those type of pants? Where can I find them? Does he have a belt on underneath? HELP!!!

Facial hair: Just gonna go clean cut for quite awhile. Seems like the safe bet.

Hair: I've always thought I had awesome hair. I dont have to do anything with it, besides wash, and I tend to get compliments.
http://tinypic.com/r/14vibr/6 (I'm the one playing starcraft.)
I am kind of lost as to how I could style this in any way. It would just seem really unnatural. Is a natural look fine in business casual and formal? I usually get it trimmed a bit for anything formal.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, show examples, be critical, forward me to specific items and retailers.

Thanks TL!

Penny Loafers, a pair of trainers, or a solid pair of boots.

Socks: I've got the white socks with Jeans down, and the dress pants+socks+shoes down. But as I mention in the next few sections. I have no idea about what to do for business casual.

Just wear dress socks most of the time, depending on your shoes. Don't wear white socks (hanes kind esp) unless its for athletic purposes. A few pairs of wool maybe.

Pants : I am comfortable with nice jeans, I've got a few pairs. However, I'm completely lost on what to do about non-jean sub-formal pants. Even worse I can't seem to find a pair that fits right. (Maybe I'm just used to the loose and comfy fit of jeans.)

Get a pair of raw denim so you don't have to have too many. Chinos and wool trousers for the cold should be ok.

Belts: Formal Belts, check.

Get a leather one in the same colors as your shoes

Not dark blue. Stick to pastels and white (so light blue, maybe an off color). There's different kinds of "dress shirt" materials, and different collar styles. Get a few OCBDs - they make them in extra slim too, a few regular broadcloth/twill (the ones you probably have), keep it pastel. I'd suggest keeping your base in blue, cause its easy to match,

I'm 22, and from a small town in Illinois.

The everlane website is great! I appreciate all of the advice.

Are there any retail stores that you would recommend? I would like to try a lot of items on.

The Neutrogena & St. Ive's I already know about so don't need to double check those.

While I'm here, I'm thinking of grabbing a pair of boat shoes if anyone has any advice for them.

Was also considering a pair of casual barefoot shoes if anyone knows anything about those. Despite being short, I don't like heels.

From March-June I'm planning on completely re-doing 90% of my wardrobe so expect to see me around asking all sorts of questions.

But I think any of them will work okay. just depends on your skin type.

For boat shoes why not just go classic Sperrys? No idea about the barefoot ones but for the summer, again vans, chucks, etc.

Make sure you go slowly when redoing it! don't rush and make bad buys. Research everything!

Some kind of sneakers, boots, boat shoes. Anything really.

Some fits. I'm not particularly impressed with any of them but it's really good that I went through them. I've been looking for a rain jacket and I just remembered that the one in the first pic is pretty much what I want lol. Any kind of puffy jacket makes me look like a marshmallow -_-.

here is a very mediocre picture of my day-to-day work uniform.

+ Show Spoiler +

shirt - Ascot Chang MTM
tie / PS - J. Press
jacket - Sam Wazin bespoke http://www.wazins.com/
trousers - BB "Saxxon" wool trousers, "Madison" fit w/ several alterations (actually I really like these trousers--fit around waist is pretty good for me, including rise; fabric is high quality unlike some other ~$150 wool BB trousers I have bought recently that felt super cheap and I returned; legs can be narrowed quite easily to avoid "old man" look. just kind of bummed at the lack of olive color. this particular pair I don't think I have enough break in and there are probably other deficiencies in how the legs sit given all of the alterations, but they're ok.)
bag - JP Marcellino custom
shoes - Santoni (not a massive fan of this color but I was in a bind and needed some shoes quick and these were what was on ebay for not $$$$)

there is something about the mirror angle making my legs look short, but you get the idea

Juliette that jacket is the right length. it may just look long because the jacket sleeves and your shirt sleeves are both a little short imo. the sleeves look like they have the right size opening but they should come down your hand slightly further such that there is no large gap inbetween your skin and the cuff. also (and this is even more a matter of personal preference, like totally a matter of personal preference within certain bounds, but) to me it seems there is maybe a quarter inch too big a difference between jacket sleeve length and shirt sleeve length. I show only like 3/8'' of shirt sleeve, and if my arms weren't so long and goofy I would show even less.

that red jacket is cool. scarf too.

Interesting. The shirt is probably too long for my arms (unaltered BB ESF in Small), though on my left hand (shows right on the picture) I have a big ass watch that makes the cuff stay stuck kinda high.

I do agree that the jacket's arms are a bit short though.

I'm jealous of your bespoke though. A few more years.

Hey, can anyone give me tips on buying a suit/jacket, etc? Will need one in the foreseeable future(potentially today even) and would like to know what to look for when I buy it. Thanks!

edit; I'm a college student, so keep that in mind. Probably gonna go looking for a men's warehouse or joseph banks, if they have one down here..
