I used a few when I first started playing CS. No smoke/flash and an aim assist (was like an auto aim in a single player FPS, not an auto aimbot). After I removing them, I also remember getting one of those ridiculously obvious aimbots that constantly spins, auto fires, etc calling myself Jesus and laughing at how pissed off people got >_>.

I'd never do it again though. Once CS/CSS became my favourite game, I hated hackers.

hmm first time i cheated was in aoe1, still remember the laser guys, then ive also cheated in aoe2(sp for money that was when i was younger), maplestory(gravity stuff) pristontale, cs(wallhack, aimbot), tibia, diablo 1 for duplication
but to be honest nothing beats playing without cheats. but cheats does give u an extra adrenalin boost cuz its so fun, but it ruins the game forever kinda

over ten years ago in my UT99 days i briefly used aimbot+wallhack (pretty much when they were brand new), because i wanted to understand how it worked and see what the fuss was about.

i was playing semi-high skill competitive CTF at the time, so i knew hacks would be found out almost immediately... so i just tried the hack in half a dozen or so pub games before doing a fresh install.

imo the real fun in games is not 'winning', but using your skill/game sense etc to get the better over an opponent. if you're using hacks, you know that you're not really getting the better over someone.... so the only way you can truely 'win' with hacks is if you grieve enough to cause the other players you rage/quit.

admin around to ban hacker = hackers always lose.

edit: oh and maphack in diablo 2, because like 99% of people used it so if you didn't use it you were at a huuuuuuuge disadvantage when farming.

I actually used the cheatcodes in SC1 to complete the Terran mission.

Also I played 2 or 3 pubgames with wallhack and aimbot in this game called Urban Terror. I got caught however and was almost banned from clanbase, where I played all my clanmatches back then. That really made me realise that I should never do it again, even with "good" intentions (aka trying it out, but nowadays I don't really see what the "good" thing is about that).

I was thinking of using a wallhack in CS:S for a long time (I played CS in general A LOT for a LONG time before SC2) but aside from disliking hackers in general, at that point I wasn't massively computer-savvy, and was afraid that anything advertised as a hack could easily be a virus and so just left it alone all together

Other than that, I used things like aegis in the original AoE singleplayer just for the lols, I was like 8 years old or something at that time and just dicked around making armies of archers to move around the map killing stuff

No, never ever, and I've been playing online multiplayer since the days of x-wing vs tie-fighter.

Cheating in online games completely defeats the purpose of playing, at least when it comes to what fascinates me about playing online. Of course sometimes there is money on the line nowadays and I can see the incentive some people seem to have. Nevertheless I wouldn't call this "hacking" at all, since it spoils the positive and true meaning of the term outside of gaming. Its also simply wrong because these kids do not "hack" anything, really.

I'd rather call it harassment/molestation, or fraud if its in a competitive environment.

Singleplayer cheating however is about as wrong as skipping pages in a book. It is completely unnecessary if the book is good, but a practical way to still get something out of it if it is boring. In SP games I oftentimes got stuck because of a bug/bad gamedesign/silly quests and then I never hesitated even a second to cheat. And if someone finds it just funny to cheat hilariously in a singleplayer game then I would encourage them to do it by any means. I find it rather odd that a lot of people despise it. I mean, its your personal free time you choose to spend, noone gets hurt, just go ahead and do what you want.
No matter how hot it gets, sooner or later there's a cool breeze coming in.

That's not really a hack in RO lol so don't worry
Speaking of ragnarok, I used some edited .grf, bots and autohotkey (macro etc) but I would not consider it hacking either

Good old wallhack and aimbot in CS1.6 and Quake 3 (back when I was 12-14)
Mostly for Lols, but it gets boring really quickly.

I dont get hacking - i dont consider exploiting flaws in console to be hacking either as they should all be well known. Basically there is a competitive config that everyone should know. tournaments and leagues shuold have rules regarding configs so that all gets defined quickly. thye point is having a level playing field.

the point of games is to take the game and exploit it inside its ruleset.

That is hacking in its truest form. Writing hacks would be fun and id probably do that ... but going and using them on a public server woudl be funny for about 10 seconds.

We once had an inhouse cs1.6 game where everyone used a wallhack ... but thats different as when you do that its not cheating. The idea was to get a feel for what someone using the hacks looks and feels like.

I tried my friends CS wall hack once. That's about it. If you don't count single player stuff that is.

Glitches, bugs, single player cheats, d2 trainers for open bnet, etc... nothing I would classify as hacking, however.

i used speedhack on private WoW servers and i used wallhack on unsecured counter strike servers (which was stupid because on unsecured servers 1 out of 3 people uses an aimbot)!!

shame on me

no. Do cheat codes count? I sure had a lot of fun in Age of empires with cheat codes. Also the amount of hackers in BF3 atm is amazing.
