While I'm off school I'm taking a break, going to start translating this is game articles and see how that goes

Even though its not Memrise the site really fits well into the title. http://duolingo.com - You basicly translate sentences or words and speak them. Later you will automatically translate Wikipedia pages, just like you help digitalizing books by solving captchas.

Unfortunately there are just 4 courses. English → Spanish, English → German, Spanish → English and English → French (beta).

Somebody should do a thread about languages and put in the OP all the cool webpages like memrise and duolingo, so people don't have to come to this thread and search for a specific webpage. I use memrise for both russian and french and it works wonders, sadly duolingo is not available for russian just yet, the concept seems pretty good, oh well.

helped me out with Spanish class, now I'm trying to learn Korean just on my own time and when the first few words come out I'm like "wtf its all squiggles n shit!" D;

i think people that are not able to remember words after some time are not using the mems enough

im up to 1600 words mandarin :D

Been using this consistently. Quite a good learning tool for vocab when you're learning on your own. Up to a little over 400 words.

I love how it keeps you honest... If you slack too long you might have 100++ words to water or even worse.... plant death, the horror.

You should definitely just go back and retry the words. You'd be surprised how much you remember and how much just clicks back after 1 mistake. I had to do this when I had finals/other commitments so I didn't want to spend the energy to get on the site. Also they'll start coming up with words that people actually use quite often so it makes it 1000x easier. You have no idea how happy I was to see "noona" pop up.

Hey guys, have been in Italy for one year and therefore not very active for the thread:/ Unfortunatly I can't edit the OP anymore, i guess it is so because the OP is too old or i have been to inactive^^

Anyways, I will look what I can do in the next 1-2 weeks to bring together the TL-ers or make a list or something like that.

thanks, given it to my mum to supplement with her french classes.

I took Italian in school for 8 years and learnt nothing. I'm having a try at mandarin instead, since living and working with chinese.

best thing to learn languages is to play rpgs or some complicated games. I remmember when I was kid I was playing ff7 and metal gear solid - and guess what you rlly have hard time getting anywhere without translations.

Sort of annoyed with memrise right now. I have two Korean "lists", comprehensive korean and korean master list. Problem is, I have the same damn words in both, which is bad because I overexpose (basically, you need to space repetitions out properly or it won't get stuck in long term memory). Question is, which list do I stick with?

Another problem is that the order of the words you get is downright stupid. Why is one of my first 10 words "speed limit" and "to conceal"? How about IMPORTANT words like "to sleep", "important" and such?

Does anyone know which korean list is the best?
