I mean it doesn't actually cost you anything to unblock TL, besides 15 seconds of your time. It's not like seeing an ad is going to turn you blind. It can cost you your privacy & security. I don't mind TL earning revenue from the entertainment that they provide, but they (and all sites) should do so in a manner that respects the user's rights. This means: (1) No flash advertisements. There are suitable alternatives for interactive video content that do not compromise your security and tech-savvy advertisers know how to use these alternatives. (2) Advertisements are not allowed to run client code that hasn't been approved by the webmaster. Many ad agreements have the host include a blob of obfuscated JS into the page, which itself loads other scripts at runtime that the webmaster hasn't had the opportunity to review. These ads use cookies and other storage mechanisms in the browser to keep records of what you've been up to. They can also read your cookies from other sites (unless you configure your browser to disallow this).

i've yet to encounter an ad that's actually irritating/obtrusive on the sites i regularly visit, especially not on tl besides, most of the free stuff we get on the internet wouldn't be that way if everyone had an adblocker

TL is a community site for some esports, but it does not directly invest its assets to esports. This post makes zero sense and you are 100% wrong. First, if you had ad-block disabled in the first thing you'd never even see that elephant in the first place. More importantly, THE ONLY THING TL DOES WITH IT'S PROCEEDS IS INVEST IN E-SPORTS! So... yeah, not sure how it doesn't "directly invest its assets to esports." I am also quite sad that TL has changed what the little banner says. It is 100% valid for it to say that by add-blocking TL you are hurting E-SPORTS. Not pumping revenue into E-SPORTS, hurts E-SPORTS, and TL directly puts their money into supporting things like TL Open, the TSLs, the team Team Liquid, and running/improving this site (aka esports).

Actually, you can just except certain sites of from your adblock like TL and your other favorite sites. It is hard though, takes like 3 clicks.

Seriously just get over yourself, your time isn't so precious that you can't put up with a little bit of time spent watching an add, hell get a drink or walk around for that 30 seconds if it hurts so much. Same with adds on TL itself, two tiny banners that help support the site the majority of us spend most of our day on? Come on, it's free entertainment and not like you have to do anything with the adds, just ignore them.

Edit: I'm disabling adblock now though, starting today. TL ads aren't intrusive or annoying like some sites.

Do you ever watch a stream for more than an hour and a half? That's like 5-6 adds you'd see so 2.5-3minutes of adds, I'd much rather sit through that than pay $14 for a movie ticket. Not pumping revenue into E-SPORTS, hurts E-SPORTS, and TL directly puts their money into supporting things like TL Open, the TSLs, the team Team Liquid, and running/improving this site (aka esports). TL is a for-profit, but they're not E-sports. E-sports is Blizzard, Google, Twitch.tv, and the VCs that fund Twitch. It's a handful of big entertainment companies pulling strings in a fabricated market to attract viewership to the games and video services they offer. E-sports is an artificial culture forced upon us. It's not a competitive market, as evidenced by the fact that the players barely make enough money to get by (most do not make a living salary). The primary career "opportunities" are much like high-stakes poker -- a handful of the best will make it big, but the rest are suckers. Blizzard cannot afford to pay out fair salaries to all of the GSL participants, so they use a lottery reward system to play off players' hopes and dreams of stardom. The banner should say, don't hurt Team Liquid -- which is the only party you are hurting. Your attention to TL advertisement has zero effect on "E-sports" as a whole. E-sports will remain "strong" as long as Blizzard and the others keep pumping money into it.
