Plus, I torrent and shit, the least I can do is put up with a few ads. Your a smart bro, some people need to read this.

Ok, I pasted that. I didn't realize how to properly include an exception.

I block all possible ads on net, TL's ones are no exception.

I block it for the same reason I block it everywhere else: I hate ads

If you are ok with being manipulated by ads like this then I'll concede that you are supporting TL by allowing ads. You're right that people say they ignore banner ads but they will still sink in in some way or another unless you block them outright.
I don't like the idea of ads so I choose to remove them. I'll gladly directly pay for services that I want to see stick around. Tell me how much the average user generates for TL through ad revenue and I'll gladly donate that much. I would have already given a few dollars had I seen an obvious way to do so.
Here's an example of things I have a problem with. I was on a stream a few days ago and someone mentioned that they were going to bed but would leave the stream on overnight because they wanted to "support the streamer". No problem?

OK I feel I was patient enough, I said if you had moderation criticism feel free to post in Website Feedback, you reply with respond with more discussion about it and an offhand insult, good bye.

I don't use adblock but I use noscript. To view ads from some random domain on TL only means I have to write in an exception for every single one of them. I've done a number of them but the elephant still comes up quite often and I don't have exactly limitless patience with it.

I began using adblock when ads got too intrusive- those freaking ads on Comedy Central that pop up when your mouse glides over bugged the hell out of me. But for forums/ websites that I frequent I'll unblock. Which is pretty much just Team Liquid and Shamus Young's Twenty Sided. Both of these sites have really non-intrusive ads and actually I think Shamus Young has actually bothered to eliminate all the dating ads If I'm watching a bw/sc2 streamers stream or a tournament I'll unblock it as well. It's a bit more intrusive, but even if it's a few cents, I do want to help. It's not so much ye ol joke 'for ESPORTS' as it is helping out the people that are creating things that I enjoy.
To me these are not faceless corporations, but people that interact with the community and not running adblock for these specific sites is pretty easy.
Edit. Also, I'm pretty disappointed people didn't get how the "Hurting ESPORTS" was a joke. I guess it remains true that sarcasm doesn't translate very well on the internet. That and I guess from an outsiders perspective it might seem odd if the didn't know that phrase has almost become it's own meme withing TL. Inside joke I guess?

I think you are overestimating the effects that advertising has on oneself.

doesnt Hotbid own the headband that Elly wears? or did I see it on some other eSports guy?

I deactivated Adblock on the mainpage, the forums and on liquipedia. I keep adblock in the stream section, otherwise the in-strea,-ads will be shown. From Players i want to support i deactivate adblock there manually.

I wasn't joking, I would totally add more ads to my TL experience if I could, as long as they aren't the popup kind.

Of course not, the only reason the internet stays free is because of ad support. If sites and producers can't support themselves with advertising then they will die off and the internet will get a hell of a lot worse. Advertising is the best possible compromise for free content, I have never adblocked and I never will.

Just out of curiosity, what does the TL ad revenue go towards? Because I know TL staffers are volunteers. I'm assuming the money isn't an astronomical amount and goes towards something necessary for TL to exist.

what the fuck people..... "adds make me mad...." More like stop being a dick and turn off adblock if you can, I really don't see how it hurts you. Also, how is it not helping esports when they run the largest community site, they run a league, and they run a team? Are you seriously going to say that this is not helping esports?
Really lame that you can like a product, but not like it enough to help it gain income.... I mean it is not like you really even notice the adds most of the time... /rant

I would imagine the site has a somewhat significant overhead since the explosion SC2 started.
Doesn't really matter though. The site design has improved a lot since then, and I feel like supporting the Liquid SC2 team as well so it is a win/win for me.
My left sidebar has no ads on it. Don't see why it doesn't.
