I dont at all for a couple of reasons. If its not obnoxious I dont mind over looking it or waiting for an ad to finish. (If this was TV and I couldnt just open a new tab and look at something else while I wait, I might though lol). But if it is obnoxious and huge, I just wont use that site again.

i hate ads so much, not gonna disable it for anything.

I used to be too lazy to turn it off, but now I keep my ad block off for TL. ESPORTS!

How much money has been transfered (by buying things from seeing ads, or from direct donations) from you to TL as a result of your shameless 100% support? LOL you do realize often times sites get paid by the number of times the ad is displayed, regardless of if someone clicked it or even bought anything right? It doesn't sound like you know this but your smug attitude makes it sound like you should know this. I didn't ask how much TL had been paid as a result of that user, but rather, how much money has been transfered from the user to TL by whatever means. Consider the ideal money flow: User sees ad. User buys item. Business makes a profit and gives a cut to TL for the marketing. A business wouldn't pay for ads knowing they will never give a return. Let's look at the money flow that people seem to be advocating in this thread: User ignores ad. User doesn't buy item. Business makes no profit but pays TL anyway. Do you see a problem here?
Please take a marketing class. You honestly have no idea how advertising works. The truth of the matter is that it is impossible to tell how well advertising does in most situations (promotions like coupons are an exception). Companies have very little way to tell whether or not an add will make someone buy a product. What they can somewhat tell is whether or not people retain what they see when they see ads, and they retain very little because the average person sees hundreds if not thousands of ads per day.
What this means is that companies are trying to make you see their ad either more often, or make their ad rarer but more memorable. In either case, they are trying to make retention of the ad higher, which means that when you make a purchase at some point in time, you might remember that brand/product. For example, if you see an ad for Cheerios 100 times, and you usually buy Coco Puffs, maybe this time you will linger longer at the Cheerios before not buying it or you might decide to try it this one time despite going into the store for Coco Puffs. And after that single purchase you might like it and continue buying it, or you might not like it and decide to stick with Coco Puffs.
The ideal money flow has nothing to do with what you described because what you described exists in a vacuum with no other ads. The reality is that other ads exist so the ideal money flow looks more like: User sees millions of ads that user ignores. User sees ad X more times than ads W, Y, and Z because he spends a lot of time on TL. User gives product X a try/buys product X/asks friends about product X/reads reviews of product X. Business has increased their potential market. Business pays TL.

No, do you see a problem here? This whole thread is about supporting TL. Try to stay with me here: No Ad Block - Ad shows up, ad has potential to be clicked, ad has potential to sell user ad's product, TL gets money regardless, TL can continue to operate and pay for server costs, upgrades, etc
For an individual to support TL, money must somehow go from them to TL. If you aren't buying things that have been advertised then you aren't supporting TL, you are expecting those companies who are advertising to support TL.
Of course it's reasonable that not everyone will buy things from ads; the impression is the purchase of a "potential" sale, however, just read through this thread and count the number of people who say they simply ignore the ads. By ignoring ads there is no "potential" sale.

Mstring, people say they ignore ads. But a lot of times simply seeing an ad is advertising. You don't have to actually buy the thing. Brand awareness and recognition is very important, do you really think those stream ads about Bing or Coke really expect you to immediately go out and buy one? It's to familiarize yourself with the brand and attach certain experiences/images to it.
And who knows if you'll actually see a useful ad even if you say you'll ignore them? Sometimes it happens, it only takes one or two out of a few thousand to make it worth it for them.

In case you didn't know, TL has a rule against martyring.
Mention that a post will get you banned, regardless of its banworthiness, and the mods will ban you automatically. It's nothing personal. Nothing personal you say? What's this then?

He got banned because he martyred, no other reason. Search the definition of martyr. That's not martyring.

You aren't entitled to ad free streams. Those ads pay for everything you enjoy. If everyone felt as entitled as you do and blocked every site I can f'in promise they'd find other ways to get their money and I can promise you all will be the first ones crying about it.
Support the things that you enjoy, having a banner ad on a site isn't some mysterious object that shatters all of your hard concentration and distracts you away from the content - give me a f'in break. All I hear when I read some of these posts is spoiled little kids who just want want want and have no desire to do even the smallest of things to support anything they enjoy. Your entire posts screams TL suck up. Shame on you.

If anyone even has a shred of respect left, they will make the smart choice to never support a website run by jerkoffs. People who think "Oh lala TeamLiquid is so smart" are real fucking idiots.

So is TL a community hub for the advancement of Esports or a money making website that happens to feature a game we all like?
That is what i see the divide as, hence the joke that tried to combine the two and was immediately rebuked by the community. You cannot make everyone happy and to tie me to TL ( a forum its very easy to be kicked out of) is kinda cheesy. I am not seeing the advantage here, you say i could dodge righteous elitism by being a fan-boy and toeing the line but that is just not true.
Hell i've put to much thought into it. Gonna enable. Edit... only kidding i'm sorry. don't do it.

Pretty much. I also disable it for most JTV streams unless the streamers are being ridiculous and chaining adverts back to back consistently.
