My father thought that spanking and making me look at the corner for hours on end was the way to go and that it would turn me into what he wanted but all it did was make me hate him. He wonders why I don't come around and why I'm in my room, but he has conditioned me into loathing his existence. Anyway, this video is disgusting and hard to watch. I don't see her learning anything except how to take punishment and live in such a shitty house. Hopefully the internet will make things right. | ||

There's this incident I remember. My younger brother and I we're outside, four houses away from my home. Somehow he ticked me off on purpose and starts running away. I kept throwing stones at him aiming for his legs(he was laughing while this is happening, teasing me while dodging). Then he stops outside our house, he looks at me and teases me more. I picked up something like a hard soil that if I threw at him from the distance I was, It would look like a grenade that will explode when it hits the ground(lol aoe dmg). I even did the bomb sound after I threw it. He sees it coming and tries to get inside but it hits his head instead then time slowed down so I could see the awesomeness of the hard soil exploding into many pieces. Unfortunately, my dad saw it happen. My brother cried, got a head wound(little blood) and I got beat up with a belt. Afterwards I do the teasing. BOOM! HEADSHOT! | ||

loiop, how old are you? It's known that certain parts of the brain become less active in puberty, including areas that cause people to feel shock and sympathy, as well as pleasure to some extent. I'm not trying to put you down or anything, lol. The brain only really finishes developing around 22-24. | ||

I see some people write that hitting a child is fine because their own parents did it to them. It's just sad, because it shows how true this sentence is: "Hitting children teaches them to become hitters themselves". There are plenty of ways to raise your child properly. Hitting them just shows you are incapable as a parent. | ||

I mean what the fuck, people... I know that some of the posters aren't really as bad as they come off, the term corporal punishment is a very broad term, but it was made illegal for a reason. The concept of blindly obeying an authority because he has the power to physically dominate you will never be a valid mode of parenting. That's not nurturing your child, that's feeding your own ego that you are correct and the child is wrong. People use this "kids need structure" as an argument. That pain is the most direct and "true" teacher of all. But physical pain caused by another only perpetuates one ideal "I am smaller/weaker than this person i.e he can hit me if he deems it right, so I must obey him in order to not get hit". Is this sound morality? Acting out a concept to avoid punishment is very different from understanding that concept. Nothing is intrinsically bad, life is contextual after all, there's always a way to dig up some perfect scenario where corporal punishment is the only viable option. But the same can be said for anything, and it persumes that there is absolutely no other way. In the end I'm just trying to say that authority derived from force will never be as capable as authority derived from wisdom and caring. TL,DR: Don't be a dick and hit your kids, please? | ||

Very true. There's enough research done to counter anyone saying it's acceptable. I don't think it's a coincidence that some of the ones advocating beating a child are from not the most progressive countries in the world (that includes parts of the USA). | ||

The scientists responsible for the creation of the atomic bomb spent the remainder of their lives regretting it. I doubt this guy regrets beating his teenage daughter (well maybe now that it's public he does). I agree that KryptoStorm pigeonholed religion hard and it was unfair of him to make the connection but it's not that farfetched to be honest. In these modern times "religiosity" is going to need to undergo radical changes if it wants to regain its former respectability and avoid being unfairly represented... especially on the internet  | ||

And sometimes, a slap on the ass will put them in shape. Of course i'm not talking about beating your kid with a belt for 7 minutes (or w/e was happening for the 7 minutes in the video, i havent watched the whole thing). But it worked on me just fine. I have some experience with raising kids and i finally understand that the "I'ts gonna hurt me more then it's gonna hurt you" is really really true. But sometimes you gotta man up and do the right thing for the greater good. | ||
