if you read the reddit they have his fax and phone and they are... well "the internet is taking care of it"

I wish threads with NSFW content didn't come up while I'm at work. I feel like I'm missing the impact of the thread because I can't watch the video.
Either way, I can never agree with beating a kid but by the sounds of it this was incredibly excessive. Disgusting that someone could do that to their own child, or anyone else for that matter.

I'm fairly certain this is legal, he never struck her in the face or with anything other than a belt, let alone a closed fist. It's a parent's job to decide how their children get punished and while this guy is a dick I don't think legally anything will come of it. Outside of the justice system though I hope he feels some kind of ramifications for this.

this made me so fucking mad, i genuinely want to kill this man, straight up smash his face in with a fucking bat. omfg I have literally never felt so disgusted by another person.

This is so sickening. Texas is a capital punishment state, but I doubt it will be used on this monster.

well it is texas.. any info on this guy besides this? without that, this just seems like a standard beating / texas justice to me.
let the internet pester his career *shrug*

Wow. This is actually pretty crazy. Why exactly did she sit on the evidence for so long I wonder?

would you put that on the internet if you'd still live with him?

God damn. That man was a judge. He was a lawyer. He had to use intelligent reasoning to get to where he is today. Why on earth would he beat his own daughter because she used the internet?

For me it was the continuation of the conversation that got me riled up. Corporal punishment is fine, I myself was raised with corporal punishment as a possibility, but the fact that he didn't let it go was a bit much for me. Honestly, everyone's going to freak out and say she should be removed from the house, but I think that's ridiculous. She got belted. Woo hoo. Getting belted hurts like a son of a bitch, but it's nothing seriously harmful.
And please don't pull the "mentally scarring" card out. It's not. I promise you.
I really hope you're trolling.

The only thing I feel sickening for is all the swearing in front of his daughter. In other words from the point of an Asian teen, the only mistake the father made was letting himself get caught on video in the first place.
However, I still agree the video is morally wrong: -Swearing like that in front of your daughter -She is 16, not 7

Waiting to move out or something similar I imagine. I'm unsure about the legality of what went on (as I won't watch the video) but if it's true that it's legal to beat a child with a belt (as long as it's not on the face?) maybe she was aware of it and didn't want to get beaten even worse later.
I assume this is not a one time thing for her.

I don't know about the law in Arkansas but I've had experience with CPS (child protective services) and the police before against my stepdad (in Florida when I was 15 IE 6 years ago) striking me open handed in the face repeatedly and even "clapping" me in the ears. Since he never struck me with a closed fist and it was all "punishment" it was apparently legal I could be wrong, though maybe this video could prove to be psychologically abusive?

Star fox adventures was a TERRIBLE game.

It's not our business how other people raise their kids.
Besides, judges in the US are elected by voters, so apparently the voters approve of this trololol

Lol execution for beating your child? That seems a bit extreme.

I'm more conflicted than most of you. The internet, and internet video games, are very powerful. It's easy to waste time and negatively affect your life. I'm sure the parents had tried reasonable methods to get the daughter to stop, and it's possible they wanted to act outrageously to try to shock the girl into stopping.

Guess what, child abuse is one of the biggest problems in 'civilized' countries. It happens a lot, this movie isn't some exception or something that rarely happens. The reasoning and the fact that the guy is a judge are a bit strange in this case but the results are the same. The problem is children are heavily influenced by their parents, which isn't a bad thing obviously lol, but it is the reason why such cases don't come on the news a lot. I mean... this girl hide a camera somewhere, filmed it and put it on the internet years later, that's rare as hell. Just imagine how much more cases there are if this is what needs to happen too get some attention for it.
