Universities are in no way inimical to the critical thinking process, just because your not spoon-fed a skill doesn't mean your not supposed to have it or other people in america don't have it. Hey, maybe go out and develop a skill for ourselves why don't we?

What sickens me more is that there are actually some Chinese citizens accusing Chen (the woman who saved the girl) of seeking fame and fortune for SAVING THE GIRL.
Really?!

it is horrible if she is going to live in a vegetable state for the rest of her life...... it would be better to let her pass so she doesn't have to suffer any longer

There's a good quote from the youtube video:
"The incident is the latest example of passers-by acting indifferently to victims injured in crimes. In this case, some blamed the parents for letting the girl walk on the street alone. More criticized the phenomenon of people passing by without helping, caused at least in part by previous extortion attempts from the injured and their families who have sometimes tried to blame the person helping."
Some people have commented with examples on the comment board, but it would explain a few things. Also, apparently the truck driver has to pay less (about ten times less) if the baby dies then if it is merely injured, so its better to kill the baby. Money does some weird things :O

Uh...no, Chen is a street cleaner and scavenger who happened to save the girl. The mother remains unidentified for obvious reasons and Yue Yue's (the toddler) father is Wang.

He was saying that old woman's own daughter was one of the people saying she just wanted to be famous by helping the kid.

Chen was scolded by her daughter for sticking her nose into other people's business and complained to the media how she just wanted fame and fortune for helping the kid.

Well, apparently some people would rather have money, be "butt raped" a few times, and then live their life . The details are all in the video description btw, I'm paraphrasing one of the drivers who were caught:
Chinese authorities have supposedly have caught the first driver (the second is no worse in my opinion). "If she is dead, I may pay only about 20,000 yuan ($3,125). But if she is injured, it may cost me hundreds of thousands yuan," said the driver over the phone to the media, before he gave himself up to the police.
Also would be curious what the "bystander effect" (a term used in social psychology) has to play in this. Could it happen anywhere else? Has it? meh...maybe I'll research it later
