Does anyone else find it ironic that Perry thinks he can tackle the job issue because he created jobs, even though those jobs were government jobs and Texas still has an 8.2% unemployment rate?

Whoever the nominee ends up being, they had better come up with a ticket that isn't completely unelectable this time around.

If I had to pick from that list my vote would go to Ron Paul hands down. He's by far the most sane and least stupid of the candidates and I think the fact that Fox News completely ignores the fact that he exists proves that.

This, also. He's the honest broker, so to speak. I disagree with him on a lot of things, but I think he's 1) actually a patriot and 2) actually thinks about what he says in terms of meaning, not just winning elections.

On top of that, I think that of all the candidates on either side of the aisle, it's Ron Paul alone who I really trust.

I think he'd do everything in his power to get us out of these pointless wars we're waging abroad in the Middle East, more than Obama has done, and certainly more than any Republican nominee would. I also think he'd pull out all the stops to end the war on drugs; he has been brutally clear on these two points.

For his economic stance, and for his views on wars and the drug war, Ron Paul would probably have my vote if he made it to the General Election. He's honest. He won't make it, but he's the White Knight in a den of dragons.

I'm from Texas and if you think Rick Perry gives us a good name, I want to know how and why.
That man is one of the most laughable politicians to date. He's just as much of a caricature as the others and aside from possibly being able to speak more cohesively, is the same damn person George W. was/is.

The problems in Europe don't have anything to do with their financial set up so much as some really stupid decisions over and over again by a particular member state of the European Union.

He GENUINELY believes that praying for more jobs will create more jobs. So he actually does think he can fix unemployment if he gets enough people to pray about it.

Except that you forgot Ireland, Italy, Spain, and Greece are failing, UK is having riots because they can't afford giving things to the poor anymore, and Germany will be pulled down with them if they keep following the Europe Union.

I sincerely hope that's not true. How does that even work? God just comes down and invents businesses and business owners out of nowhere? He 'smites the devil' from some unscrupulous bastard to invest some money in a new business?

Ron Paul is the only legitimate candidate that isn't an ignorant racist religious nutjob disguising their blatant special-interest-catering policies as being "tea party populist" or some other bullshit. The poor rural people who vote for these candidates are too stupid to take their own side in an argument, all of their policies would screw them (and mostly everyone else) over big time in one way or another.

But Ron Paul is legit although i believe he is often forced to act like a bit of an idiot b/c of the political realities of him needing stupid rednecks to vote for him. I hope he wins the nomination, it would be good for the country to hear some of his ideas seriously proposed on a national stage.

As a "republican", it doesn't look like I'm going to be voting this year. Holy crap this is a terrible looking lineup.......just........wtf. As much as I dislike Obama for being a pushover of a president....I'd prefer him to any of those guys, maybe with the exception of Ron Paul. Maybe some of his ideas are pretty radical, but he does seem to have his crap together, unlike....the whole entire rest of the GOP. The thing is, I don't think he stands a chance....the derp is too strong.

I don't understand why people are so afraid of Ron Paul's fiscal policies. Even if he was elected President, it's not like he would be able to enact even a quarter of what he proposes. There would be far too much opposition from members of government and even the American people. It would take a dollar collapse for people to start listening to some of his more assertive ideas. I'm on-board the Ron Paul train because of his International Policies. Not to mention he comes across as the only genuinely honest candidate. Yes, an American President has far more power than is Constitutionally sound, but I see too many comments in this thread giving the office of the Presidency far more credit and capacity than it deserves or has. Ron Paul isn't going to turn the country into a free-for-all. lol

I still don't know where the claims of crazy are coming from. The guy has sound reasoning for his ideas. I just think it's entirely superficial at this point. He doesn't look the part. You've got a squirrely, little, old, short, big-nosed guy standing next to a bunch of John Q Slickhaired City Boys making him look completely out of place.

Modern society, with it's overblown superficiality, would never have voted in a guy like Churchill.

And we wonder why we're stuck with candidates that are carbon-copies of one another.

Ok first things first. I consider myself a republican. How can people hope that Ron Paul gets elected? McCain got torn to shreds for being too old and all the "he might die in office" shit. What's to stop the Dems from doing the same thing to Ron Paul? He was no spring chicken last election. 4 more years can't have helped him. If my two choices are Ron Paul or Obama. I'll just not vote. Or I'll write in someone. Ron Paul on a charisma level and overall my feelings on him he creeps the fuck outta me.

Now that may not be a very intelligent thing to say when I should argue or look at his policies and not the person. But lets be honest. How many idiots voted for Obama because he was charismatic and a smooth talker. Plus the whole "DUDE! BRO! WE COULD TOTALLY BE THE FIRST TO ELECT A BLACK PRESIDENT!! BRO MAN WE'D LIKE TOTALLY BE IN THE HISTORY BOOKS!" without a good portion of them knowing what the hell he actually stood for and were just going for the "FIRST!" in American History.

I'm not saying Ron Paul might not help or would be better than Obama because I don't know his policies. I just think that he will get torn to shreds like McCain did by the liberal media that helped Obama get elected last term. Won't even be a fair fight.

Lastly that's not to say that any other republican candidate wouldn't get torn to shreds by the liberal media. If Bachman gets picked the Dems will pop the champagne and the liberal media will start drooling over all the stuff they have to run for the whole election period.

Jon Huntsman is the most moderate Republican and the one I'd be the most happy with.

If we are picking a candidate we think Obama can beat that has a reasonable chance of making it, I'd throw up Bachmann. I thought she was a joke a year ago with all the stupidity, but in some states she is leading the pack now.
