I think it comes down to semantic/lexical proximity; consider the word “their.” It’s very similar to “they” yet it is an accepted reference to an individual possessive.

I mean, I'm totally fine with using whatever people want to be addressed as, but how did 'they' become an option for an individual? "They" has always been an option for an individual, when writing. Rather than writing "he or she" in general paragraphs, when addressing an unknown person, it's also conventional to either pick one of the binary pronouns ("he/him" all the way through the paragraph or "she/her" all the way through the paragraph, for convenience/brevity) *or* to just use "they" to indicate a person whose gender you don't know. In those cases, it's "they are", and I wanted to make sure that it's still "they are" when you do have the additional information that the person specifically identifies as they/them. Further research and feedback have confirmed that it's "they are", not "they is", as I thought. I had been writing "they are" because that intuitively felt accurate, but then I started second-guessing myself haha... better safe than sorry! Thanks for the quick responses, everyone Found this too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singular_they

And I mean, I do get it - 'it' is obviously insulting, and I think it's easier to gain acceptance for slightly altering the use of an existing pronoun than for creating a new one.

When I was younger it wasn't the most common way to refer to it but it was a scale with home run meaning actually having sex.

This is an Excel question. Couldn't find words to explain what I want to do clearly so I made a video. Is there a command to do this easily or do I have to keep going line by line?

In C1 put 1 In C2 put =IF(C1=1,0,1) Drag it down That'll give you alternating 1s and 0s. Then filter col C for 1 to give only every other row. Then copy and paste the data from every other row into a new sheet and it'll appear without gaps. Then filter for 0 to get the others.

I am considering getting one, but i am completely crushed by the absurd amounts of information on possible models to choose from. I have no clue what to look for and would like to have someone to pepper with questions.

A few people use 'it' pronouns too (I just happened to read your post and thought I'd mention it). English is better served than french for this stuff, in french they had to make up new words, there was nothing there. English is just repurposing some already existing words slightly. As you say it helps with acceptance, for me anyway I struggle to use 'iel' in french in a way that I don't with 'them'.
